Very classy place. The food was incredible, the service matched! Location was on the waterfront. Great spot for our 20th anniversary dinner.

We dropped in for a mid-afternoon lift after hiking around the Citadel foe a couple of hours. We just had some soup and crispy shrimp, nothing special (yummy though), but got a warm reception from a sweet gal who's been hanging there for 20-some years in close association with the owner. Here, like much of Halifax, the buildings have a... More

I use to enjoy the shoe shop, however the food and service has been in decline for some time now and this weekend was the tipping point. We ordered the vegetarian nachos, mac n' cheese and gnocci. Both pastas were very small servings (somewhere between side and main) and neither came with any bread, weird for pasta dishes. They were... More

Great food, great service, but what really sticks out is the unique atmosphere! It is almost like stepping into a different place entirely, with church pews at the table, and a tree with twinkle lights.

I'll start by saying that our server was awesome. Don't know her name but she was friendly and quick. The food was just ok. I had pan fried haddock and it looked like a piece of styro foam on the plate. It tasted fine but was small. The small salad that vame with it was flavourless. This is the 2nd... More

We'd heard this was a great place to eat in down town Halifax. Pub food, sitting on the sidewalk patio, people watching, the atmosphere was fun, we had good food, the notchos were fantastic, highly recommended.

We dropped in for a late lunch and were delighted with the food and the service. We each had a half salad - one garden and one green and then an order of PEI mussels in a spicy sauce and the potato Rossi with locally smoked salmon (which as nothing like anything you'd get in Zurich), all washed down by... We had a great time sitting on the patio listening to some Jazz. Our server, Claire, was personably, lovely and very attentive. Wonderful and beautiful venues, lots of fun.

Popped into this place during a recent visit to Halifax. I had the chowder and calamari and both were delicious. I had fish for my main course which was also tasty. They had some good local beer options on tap which I always enjoy. All in all a very good place to dine, drink and relax.

This place is a bit of a Halifax institution as it has been around for many years. The decor inside and the atmosphere for a drink or a meal makes the experience! They have a great wine and cocktail selection. The meals are a reasonable price with smaller portions than other locations but are of good quality. The service is... More
