We had the sun dried tomato and ricotta gnocchi and the Digby scallops with a lobster sherry cream sauce. There was really no lobster or lobster flavour in the cream sauce, but the scallops were big, fresh, and cooked perfectly. The food was just amazing and I can't wait to have more.

Stopped in with my adult daughter, we shared the nacho and had lobster sliders. Sliders were pretty good! Nachos, well they would feed a family of 4! Well layered with lots of everything! The decor is always a treat to see, will return for sure!!

The Shoe has been in business for at least as long as I can remember (which is only about 15 years). They recently downsized their building, which is a tragic shame. The original layout was extremely interesting and unique, which was a big draw for me, and for my friends. It still has a great deal of appeal however. It... More

Just had a really good meal here ....I visit this place everytime I'm in Halifax.... The mussels were fantastic .... Even though they only have one way of doing the, up in a white wine sauce (which was good) I tried to get them to do up a red Cajun style however they would not accommodate it (boo) ..... The... Very classy place. The food was incredible, the service matched! Location was on the waterfront. Great spot for our 20th anniversary dinner.

We dropped in for a mid-afternoon lift after hiking around the Citadel foe a couple of hours. We just had some soup and crispy shrimp, nothing special (yummy though), but got a warm reception from a sweet gal who's been hanging there for 20-some years in close association with the owner. Here, like much of Halifax, the buildings have a... More

I use to enjoy the shoe shop, however the food and service has been in decline for some time now and this weekend was the tipping point. We ordered the vegetarian nachos, mac n' cheese and gnocci. Both pastas were very small servings (somewhere between side and main) and neither came with any bread, weird for pasta dishes. They were... More

Great food, great service, but what really sticks out is the unique atmosphere! It is almost like stepping into a different place entirely, with church pews at the table, and a tree with twinkle lights.

I'll start by saying that our server was awesome. Don't know her name but she was friendly and quick. The food was just ok. I had pan fried haddock and it looked like a piece of styro foam on the plate. It tasted fine but was small. The small salad that vame with it was flavourless. This is the 2nd... More

We'd heard this was a great place to eat in down town Halifax. Pub food, sitting on the sidewalk patio, people watching, the atmosphere was fun, we had good food, the notchos were fantastic, highly recommended.
