We went at lunch, three of us around 1230. It was steady but not super busy. We ordered two orders of nachos and the raw tacos; all things you would think would take very little time to prepare. Well, we waited between 30-40 minutes for these simple dishes. Although they were delicious, best nachos I've ever had, there is no... More

I chose the Wooden Monkey because the net blurb I read about them said something about fish and I knew that my husband always likes fish when we travel. To my surprise, the restaurant was vegan. I would have loved to have chosen such a place (Vegan) but probably would not have, being concerned that it might not satisfy Bruce.... More

Had two delicious dinners at the Wooden Monkey. Both were haddock dishes, with loads of fresh vegetables. Great range of starters, mains and desserts. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Halifax.

Ad-hoc rustic charm with wood floors and some mis-matched furniture. As a coeliac, it had the most extensive gluten free menu yet found in Canada. Superb fish dishes, including a wonderfully meaty halibut special. Leave a large space for the chocolate tofu dessert - delicious but very filling. Superb attentive service. Thoroughly recommended. Only comment is that with such a... More

They pride in the care that they have put into their menu selections and ingredients and it has absolutely paid off. I would absolutely recommend that this be added to your list of restaurants for Halifax.

Great food. Great drinks. The haskap juice, blue berry juice, and sodas were delicious. Would definitely be a regular here if I lived in Halifax.

Take-out is always a treat from this place. Good food, good service, great prices. To maximize your enjoyment, eat-in and enjoy the ambience. Arctic char is a particularly good dish and they maximize local sourcing of all ingredients = great for the eco footprint.

Thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. We had an excellent server who was knowledgeable in food choices. We dined out as a family and all enjoyed their meals. Would return. I would recommend for a fun, relaxed night out.
