All of our food choices were first class, well presented, hot and very tasteful. This was our first visit to this restaurant and it was a special occasion and a wonderful experience. Well worth the value. Service was outstanding!

Scotch list; more than 100, amazing ... You can have a taste of rare whiskies, such as Macallan 1971 (bottled in 2002) $550 per ounce The Building is a site of a Judge house back in 1759, still have the original walls....Even the mice from that era still wondering around at the end of the night! Food: I definitely recommend... More

Food was good simple fare. The wine list could stand some punching up. The price was reasonable. The meal was totally enjoyable.

This was hands down the best dining experience we had on our entire East Coast trip from Saint John, NB to PEI. We started at the bar with some fresh shucked oysters with lovely accompaniments. A delicious fresh cucumber martini hand muddled and strained to order. The bar-tender offered great knowledge of oysters and even shared his interest in becoming... More

We were in Halifax for a conference and we did not realize that the Haligonians ate early and most restaurants close by 9 or 10. So by the time we flew in, checked in to our hotel and were looking for food very few places were open. Luckily, the Press Gang was one of those places. it's in an old... More

Food was great as well, fresh oysters that went down like a toboggan - very slippery. Only thing I missed from the menu was a seafood Chowder, they had a clam mussel concoction, but we were looking for seafood chowder, which seems to be all the rave in Nova Scotia. The artic Char was perfect and the sides balance the... More

Ate at the bar- the service was fantastic, the ambiance was perfect (second oldest building in Halifax) and the food was as good as it gets. Have the halibut- it was sensational. And make sure you have the spiced apple cake for dessert.

We had dinner here, and then we sampled the extensive collection of Scotch whisky. The dinner was excellent, and so was the whisky. The bartender was very knowledgeable and happy to make helpful suggestions.

It's hard to find a place that has all the Scotch you could ever want, but that's The Press Gang. I only had the calamari, which was decent, but I didn't walk in for the food. I was there for the Scotch and I was not disappointed. It's a little pricey, but the bartender was helpful and gave some great... More
