This is perhaps the finest sushi I have eaten. The chef is a true master and a good man (we saw him running to return a patron's coat out in the street some time after our dinner). We tried an assortment of rolls, both of the omakase plates (sushi and sashimi), and two different udon bowls. All were superb. The... More

Nothing much too add to the food: everything fresh and tasty. Miso soup is also good, which for me is always a good sign. Mind you, portions of the teranyaki meals are rather small. The noodle soup, however, was large, hot and very tasty. This restaurant is opposite another (much larger) sushi place; it is in a basement floor, which... More

The sushi was great, the service was great. The price for my Chirashi was a bit on the high side but not enough to deter us from coming again, the next time we're in Halifax.

I enjoyed my favorite food at this nice restaurant, with wine of a very good quality. The restaurant is situated a little bit away from main road. Good attention and service and great variety in menu. Unfortunately I felt a bit in a rush as a result of hasty service. I was not in a hurry at all. Next visit... More

A very unassuming restaurant. We dropped in for a light dinner and enjoyed everything very much. We had various sushi dishes including dragon roll, spicy tuna roll and the appetizer sushi plate. All were excellent. We also had the grilled scallop appetizer and the ramen. Both were done to perfection. Little atmosphere but very good food. Staff were very charming.

I've been frequenting Shige's for the past 15 years, he is the best. I've had sushi at other places in Halifax, Moncton, Saint John, Sydney, Fredericton and St. John's... hands down Shige makes the best. The fish is always fresh, portions are excellent and the Omakasi Dinner is to die for if you plan far enough ahead. This is traditional... More

A coworker suggested to eat here for supper! Wow! Incredible food! Everybody was extremely pleased with their food. Never had fresher huge sashimi pieces. They literally melted in my mouth! Can't wait to eat there again!!!

Consistently the best sushi restaurant in Nova Scotia. Dragon roll is always awesome and the omakase dinner is a fantastic, inspired meal. Thanks Shige!

I had hamachi sashimi, tuna sushi, salmon roe sushi and tempura soba. The sashimi and sushi were OK fresh. Presentation was simple and elegant and nowadays only Japanese chef would spend time to do that. The soba was excellent. Service was courteous and attentive. Just a block from St. Mary's Basilica.
