We booked reservations mid-week in mid-February so it wasn't busy. Service was excellent. We ordered scallops as well as crab cakes for starters. Both were superb, but the scallops deserve to be their signature appetizer. Our mains were breast of duck and the Icelandic char; both done to perfection. Desserts were the flourless chocolate cake and the pineapple star anise... More

We had a larger party (seven) in one of the two dining rooms, and a dedicated waitstaff. She was pleasant and humorous and helped guide a group of somewhat interesting diet needs through the menu and wine choices (several members of our part had food allergies). Without realizing it, we had stumbled back into a restaurant that three of our... More

My wife and I went there for dinner and loved it. We have visited many restaurants in Halifax and enjoyed many fine meals, but dinner at Stories was the best yet. The scallop appetizer was phenomenal. For the main course I had guinea hen and my wife had steak; both were superb. We finished with coffee (excellent) but did not... More

My husband and I, while visiting Halifax, stumbled upon Stories and it turned out to be a major highlight of our trip. We stopped in hoping to secure a reservation for the dinner and they we already booked but made room for us anyway. We ordered that scallops, elk cappicoli and goat cheese salad to start with the tuna for... More

Server: excellent. Food: awesome! Atmosphere: great! Location: easy downtown walk, near the waterfront. It's actually in Haliburton House on Morris Street Cost: high but worth every cent Starting with the appetizers, the crab cakes were the best ever, and the Hants county greens with lamb, goat's cheese tapenade and heirloom tomatoes was excellent. The Mondavi red Pinot Noir was a... More

We gathered for a pre-wedding meal at Stories and it was lovely. Service was top-notch and the private room worked well. Chef seemed a little rushed and insisted we order desserts when we ordered our meal and the waitress told us he was in a hurry to go home. The food was very good but not in the best ever... More

but the scallop appetizer is excellent! We had a great meal in an intimate setting. I also had the deer and boar dish and enjoyed it as well!

We had a fantastic dinner last night! Our server made several recommendations, all of which we took and we're rewarded with a fabulous meal. She read our table well with what we needed and allowed us the time to talk when it was appropriate. Very knowledgeable. Top marks. The meal and wine were spectacular! Crab cakes were fabulous, but the scallops... More

We had just a beautiful evening at Stories, the food was above and beyond. The chef and his staff put together the most spectacular flavors and combinations you could ever think of. I had the scallops and duck as a main, they where just beyond, you enjoyed every bit and you savor it so much you want it too last.... More
