but the scallop appetizer is excellent! We had a great meal in an intimate setting. I also had the deer and boar dish and enjoyed it as well!

We had a fantastic dinner last night! Our server made several recommendations, all of which we took and we're rewarded with a fabulous meal. She read our table well with what we needed and allowed us the time to talk when it was appropriate. Very knowledgeable. Top marks. The meal and wine were spectacular! Crab cakes were fabulous, but the scallops... More

We had just a beautiful evening at Stories, the food was above and beyond. The chef and his staff put together the most spectacular flavors and combinations you could ever think of. I had the scallops and duck as a main, they where just beyond, you enjoyed every bit and you savor it so much you want it too last.... More

I stopped by for a quick lunch, I had just about an hour to eat so I went for the crab cakes. Delicious!!! I'm very picky when it comes to seafood and these crab cakes were to die for. Definitely recommend it.

The service was great and the food was excellent. The scallop appetizer is truly memorable and I would highly recommend the duck entree. Quiet, comfortable and intimate - a night to remember!

A small, intimate restaurant part of the Halliburton Inn serves wonderfully delicious and well-prepared meals. I enjoyed delicious crabcakes, chock full of fresh crab and salmon followed by melt-in-your-mouth tenderloin while my husband started with the scallops (perfectly grilled but the rice paper wrapping was too soggy) and the bass brilliantly prepared. I'd definitely return when I'm next in Halifax.

Loved the Crab Cakes with avocado and smoked jalapeno lime crema and followed it with Bison Hangar Steak on a potato parsnip pave with mushroom ragout and seasonal vegetables. A very rich dish full of flavour. Excellent, friendly and efficient service, very knowledgeable staff.

After all the hype, we found Stories to be just above average with some glaring deficiencies. I started with their crab cake appetizer. That may have been my mistake. Crab meat is far better when served cold with mayo'. There's not a lot you can do to crab cakes, except destroy them with too much filler, peppers or other flavourings... More

Stories is a fairly small, narrow restaurant off the lobby of the small Haliburton Hotel. It was quite quiet the mid-week night I dined there--I think there were no more than 9 of us there by the time I left shortly before 8pm. It should be busier! The menu is limited to just two sections: a starter/appetizer and a main... More

For some reason, when we’re looking for a nice place for a special meal, we rarely think of Stories. We’ve only been there twice in the past decade. Not sure why, because the food there is amazing. In fact, from our recent visit, I still retain the memory of the superb mushroom soup starter that included lamb and a piece... More
