A couple of months ago we had a meal in France at a Michelin 2 Star restaurant and we both think that this was much better We started with the house charcuterie. Everything was excellent however the lamb prosciutto was novel and a delight. We'd never had lamb like this before. My wife got the duck and it was perfectly... More

My partner and I had an excellent evening of both food and atmosphere at this conscientious and intimate restaurant. Reservations are necessary as there are only 9 tables. The menu changes frequently as the chef works with local, seasonal ingredients. My partner started with delicious crab cakes and I with cassis dressed greens with delicious goat cheese. He chose salmon... More

Agree with previous reviewers - excellent food, spot-on service. We've eaten at fine dining restaurants around the world and Stories holds its own. Especially recommend the crab cakes (all crab, no filler!) the fillet of beef, the elk loin, and the pannacotta which was slightly unusual but excellent - in fact every course we had, starting with the bread, was... One of the finer meals we've had anywhere. An ambitious chef who delivers. Regularly changing menu takes advantage of what's local and what's in season. I had a very generous exceptional scallop-wrapped in rice pastry appetizer perfectly done. S had a well above average spring goat cheese salad. We both ended up having elk loin - not a particularly easy... More

A fantastic meal. Very nice menu with interesting items such as elk, tuna, and bison. My wife had the scallops which she said were excellent. She also had the elk which was excellent. I started with the chacoutirie plate and tuna which were both excellent. A nice selection of wine at sensible prices. Casual fine dining is an excellent description.... More

The restaurant is delightfully small and intimate, service was spectacular and the food devine. The menu had a good selection to fit a variety of tastes with unique appetizers and entrées.

My husband and I took my mum to Stories for her 90th birthday in April, 2015. This was the perfect opportunity to visit this highly regarded restaurant. The setting is small and intimate in a beautiful historic house in Halifax. The service struck just the right note between being highly professional, discrete, attentive and friendly. Our server made my mum... More

We browsed through Tripadvisor before we dined and all the positive reviews were certainly accurate! The wine selections were presented in groupings which made it very easy to pair with our menu choices. We had the tuna and the salmon and we both felt that they were possibly the best we have had in a restaurant. The charcuterie was amazing... More

My wife and I are new to the area, so we're reluctant to declare Stories the best restaurant in Halifax. But it's certainly the best we've been to. We stayed at the Halliburton House and took advantage of the "Spring Stories" special, which is a good deal. We ordered the duck breast and the beef tenderloin, their two most popular... More
