Fantastic bagels and cream cheeses. A beautiful line of chilled pastries/desserts. The cafe is warm and welcoming, yet the counter staff need to amp up their multitasking skills - big time.

I stopped by for a quick bite. No sandwiches but lots of pastries etc. and a selection of samosas made locally by Staff of Life. I ordered a beef samosa and an almond croissant. The samosa was not heated thoroughly, nor was it crisp on the outside like it should be. The croissant was sinful and delicious. I had stopped... More

Great place to go for a coffee and a pastry in the historic Hydrostone. Way better alternative to the Starbucks down the street and they have the best bread in the city too. A bonus is the outside sitting area between the buildings, a true inner city oasis!!

I had one of the best Chai Lattes I have ever had at this cafe-bistro. Julien's ruined Starbucks for me.

I love their baguette and French loaves. They also have a loaf with flax and mustard seed (called the hearth???) that is so tasty that you easily forget that you are eating a healthy bread! Julien's offers an extensive selection of desserts and we've enjoyed the ones we have tried. Definitely worthwhile crossing the harbour from Dartmouth to Halifax just... More

We often go to Julien's on late Saturday mornings to start the weekend, intending to eat just a bagel (with chives cream cheese!) and a cup of coffee, and end up staying for an hour or two having sampled many of their confections.

To let you know in advance I am a pastry snob (my father was a french trained baker and pastry chef). These were really good. I took a selection of 7 back to the office where they were promptly devoured and enjoyed by all. The Eclair (Mielle Feulle)custard was a little stiff for my liking and the pastry not as... More

I live around the corner, and when we moved here I was excited thinking a great bakery close to home!!! It's o.k., nothing special, expensive and really is a boulangarie rather than a bakery.

Okay. Good coffee. Disappointing selection of bread. Should not have bread or baked goods in plastic bags. Sandwiches were just so so.

best little place for fresh baked goods and a latte - and not a chain! Quiet atmosphere and located in the beautiful hydrostones!
