Top Notch Food & Service

First time dining at the restaurant and won't be my last! Went with a group of 6, and we were seated in the back part in our own private area. There was a closet to hang our winter jackets and we were greeted with friendly staff from the get go. The drinks are delicious and there is an extensive... read more

My husband and I went here on our stay at the Prince George. We promptly got greeted by a nice lady as we entered. We got a beautiful table and sat and our waiter promptly approached us. The food is good.. do NOT get me wrong. The flavors they use are amazing, however the only complaint I have is the... More

Many diners will avoid a hotel dinning room, mostly because they think it is more expensive or not quite the experience that they might get by dinning outside of the hotel. WRONG !!, specifically in this case. Gio is well located with entrances from off the street or through the hotel and the hotel is part of the downtown network... More

I visited Gio when I was visiting Halifax from the UK and needed to impress an important client. Firstly, I think I got extra points with the client for suggesting this restaurant. What was really cool was that the restaurant rang me in the UK to confirm my reservation. An international call isn't such a big deal these days, but... More

If you are searching for a truly wonderful dining experience, Gio is the place! From the warm greeting at the door, to the extra touches such as the amuse bouche and the palate cleanser, not to mention an imaginative and well presented menu , this is a truly magnificent dining experience. In addition to appetizers and dessert we ordered elk as... We stopped for a late night meal. Jessica was our waitress. She was awesome. We ordered three appetizers. It was actually too much food. Soooo tasty though!! I'm salivating just thinking about it. Get the gnocchi. You won't regret it.

gio has to be one of the best restaurants in Halifax. I've had lunch and dinner here in the last 10 days and both were incredible. Light airy calamari, duck and blue cheese poutine - you have to try it to believe it. Scallops at lunch will get you through the day. But at night the menu really takes off.... More

We just happened on Gio in the Prince George hotel. The menu looked superb with something for every palate. The ambiance is excellent with booths and open tables. Our waiter was knowledgable and efficient. And the meal.... Truly outstanding. Oysters, sea bass and elk....savored every mouthful !!

a lovely restaurant with an eclectic menu featuring very fresh ingredients. I had the arctic char served on a bed of risotto. The dish was moist and cooked to perfection. Well chosen and reasonably priced wine list.
