Best Restaurant in Halifax

We ate at the top three TA rated restaurants while we were in Halifax......each were great...Gio is number 1. We started with catfish tacos which were great. Two bloody Ceasar salads...great Canadian twist on a Ceasar salad. Our entrees were pork roulades and lobster with lobster bisque ravioli... read more

Cocktail list was incredible. Food had excellent, artistic presentation and was cooked perfectly. Fantastic, unique flavors. Dessert was also well presented. Sorbets were particularly flavorful.

Had a very nice supper with an excellent server , Jessica. cat fish was very good, Calamari wasn't. Poutine interesting. Foie Gras, very good but the elk stole the show. Exceptional. All and all a very good experience and this is an example of a hotel restaurant being very good.

We went to Gio's for lunch with friends and it was amazing. The food was fantastic. Our server Christy was so upbeat and helpful. We loved our lunch. It was yummy, well presented with large portions. And the price was so reasonable. Well, we wandered around late afternoon checking out other restaurants in the area looking for a place to... More

This was our best meal on our vacation in the Maritimes. Service was excellent with the waitress able to give very good descriptions (not just “its delicious”) and answers to our questions. I had the elk – which was a lot of elk but very well cook (so tender). My wife had the salmon with the goat cheese risotto that... More

As a traveler with severe food allergies, my dining options are often very restricted and frequently repetitive. The Staff, both waitstaff and chef staff alike, were superb in coming up with both unique and extremely delicious dining options for me. I was able to enjoy all courses of the meal, along with my dining partners, a true treat and one... More

The top restaurant in Halifax apparently, probably because it's overtly smart and somewhat pretentious, and fine dining is in short supply. The dining room is long and narrow and has a nice vibe but the art deco glass work adorning the walls sure isn't to my taste. The waitresses were all very engaging and the service and wine list more... More

We were staying at the Prince George hotel and are usually very suspicious of hotel restaurants. We looked on Trip Advisor and found good reviews so decided we would give it a go. The restaurant itself is very stylish. The menu had plenty to choose from for our taste but not too much to be stupid (or frozen)... Everything we... More
