We were a group of people visiting Halifax on a business trip. We did not have reservations, so we were pleased to be able to get tables for our small group of six. The servers could have been better in explaining the menu specials and making conversation. We seemed to have a few servers and they appeared disorganized. We finally... More

This is a must visit restaurant for seafood lovers. The ambience is historic and comfortable. The service truly excellent and most of all the food is superb. We were quite a large party, but everyone agreed, this was the place to eat!

I made reservations here after it being recommended by a few people during our stay in Halifax. We were greeted by the friendly general manager and escorted to our table upstairs. I started with the lobster bisque and it was the BEST bisque I have ever had. I would of ordered another serving if I could. My husband had the... More

We were looking for an upscale restaurant with a talented chef, we found it at the Five Fishermen. We arrived a little early, sat at the bar and had two very fine martinis and enjoyed the oysters on the half shell special. we then went upstairs, note the fine dining and gorgeous ambience is upstairs. They do not have the... More

Dined outside with family and therefore only sampled the "Grill" menu. Portions were small, prices were high but that seems to be the place everywhere I go in Nova Scotia. Four patrons with a few drinks, four apps, one entree came to $150 before tip. Some of the food was a hit, some was a miss, overall failed to impress... More

The Service could not have been better. Wine prices were more reasonable that many other Halifax better restaurant. Markups were in the 50 to... More

I fully admit that I have been a fan of the 5 Fisherman for near 30 years but I hadn't been back to Halifax in the past 15 years and worried that it might have changed. Well it has and if anything its even better then I remembered. It still has the all you can eat mussels but now table... More

We went to Five fishermen for a romantic dinner. Visiting from out of town, we went there to eat seafood and the quality did not disappoint. Five fishermen is a traditional fancy restaurant with leather benches, gant blanc service, high ceilings and red carpets. The food was good and we opted for the full lobster ($40), some raw oysters, the... More
