This was one of the fancier places we visited on our tour of the Maritimes and we ended up enjoying not only the food, but the service as well. The fish and chips were average at best, but my meal of blackened Haddock (or Halibut) was good and my wife's lobster roll (a very common dish out here) was excellent.... More

My husband and myself know the well repuatated 5 Fishermen Restaurant since 15 years now. It was always the highlight of beeing in Halifax. This was the reason the celebrate my birthday dinner there. But this time it was hard to find a good reason to return in the future. fisrt we were told to wait ten minutes although the... More

If you are looking for your 'standard' steamed lobster, then you will find many other cheaper options in Halifax. But if you are looking for the whole Nova Scotia seafood experience, with a good wine menu, then you will love this place. The ambiance is authentic, service great and the seafood is wonderful. Try the naked lobster, digby scallops and... More

I was only there during the day while visiting Halifax. It is right across the street from the conference centre and one block from Citadel Hill so you can't really miss it. The food is fantastic and my favourites were the chowder and the mussels. The chowder comes in two sizes - the cup and the bowl. Since I was... More

This former art college overlooks the parade and a bunch of ugly office buildings. Inside, it's a wood-panelled bit of elegance with great staff and terrific food. The salads are a nice place to start and perfectly sized to take the edge off without killing your appetite. Try the agugala and pear or the spinach salad. There are a few... More

Best lobster ever! Almost there on their scallop appetizer, but a bit too much spices killed the flavor of great quality ingredients.

Very small portions!!!!!!!!!! Eat before you go and bring your microscope. Beautiful atmosphere. Great service, nice presentation but VERY little to enjoy. A lot of hype.

I recently hosted a group dinner at The Five Fisherman and truly enjoyed the overall experience. The restaurant itself has a truly unique history and story behind it which contributed to the overall experience. The staff was truly friendly, genuine and committed to providing our group with great service. The food was served in a timely manner and was tasty.... More

This was fantastic, as my wife and I put away a couple dozen of these bad boys(mainly my wife) I was holding out for the lobster, which was great, service was outstanding, we had such a great time there.

We stopped by at around 7:00 p.m. on a Friday night. We wanted a some oysters and a drink. On the patio, only two tables were occupied by two couples. We asked to sit on the patio, which would have meant some table reconfiguration as we were a party of 6. They asked us to come inside and wait in... More
