Visited this fine restaurant after great recommendations from several friends and Moose the doorman at Lord Nelson Hotel. Boy they were not wrong. From the friendly greeting at the door the service and food were top notch. All staff are extremely happy and knowledgeable and knew when to leave you to enjoy their fabulous historic restaurant and mouthwatering food. We... More

This place was recommended to me and business colleagues who visited Halifax for a conference. We wanted a good East Coast Seafood spot and this was said to be the best by locals. I agreed!! The mussles were superb. The fish dinners we all had were fantastic and to top it off the service was flawless. The place is not... More

Dine at the Five Fisherman April 7th, 2015. We enjoyed great service, food and atmosphere. I had eaten there many years ago. In the last year or so they stop the mussel and salad bar. Sad to see it go but I guess it was a means to maintain price points.

Best meal we had in Halifax - Restaurant's sommelier recommended great matching wines for our food. Very friendly atmosphere. Fine dining upstairs, pub atmosphere downstairs.

I have always loved thsi place and have been coming here for many years. I love the atmosphere , especially in winter, it's a neat old building that has quite a history . It has a reputation as being haunted which adds to its mystery. Oh and the seafood is wonderful .Wonderful oyster bar too.

I went to the Five Fishermen restaurant for the first time after living for years in Halifax for my birthday with my wife. It was Sunday night dinner for which I made a reservation online. That day I received a call saying that the main restaurant was closed due to winter hours and that only the grill section was open,... More

Went there for Valentines and my wife had dinner with her coat on. We thought it was because we were near a window but later found out the furnace had been broken all day. We don't feel this was right ! They did not tell us when we arrived and made the evening a frigid experience. No sorry, have a... More

Dear Luvdabeach, First, let me apologize for disappointing you on your valentine's dinner. Yes, we experienced some problems with our furnace, but it was later in the day that it happened, and we had service technicians on site as quickly as we could. Unfortunately it appears they weren't quick enough so that didn't translate to a warm experience for you... More

Immersed in History the Five Fisherman is a must while visiting Halifax. There were three of us and of course we all ordered Sea Food in one form or another. Everyone in our party enjoys a serving of Mussels and the Five Fisherman does them up just right. The Broth is nothing short of addictive and one bowl leads to... More
