This has long been a favorite since way back in the 70’s. I noted that the historic building was originally the old Nova Scotia Ladies Art College back in 1924. It has been lovingly restored to its present unique character, a treat in itself. One thing that they have done perfectly is impeccable service: just the right speed for leisurely... More

We dined upstairs (i.e., the formal dinning room). Fish was so dry that it had the consistency of chicken. I literally felt like I was chewing on chicken! The risotto tasted like under cooked rice soup. I made better risotto the first time I followed a recipe myself. We never like to complain, but felt compelled to do so because... More

I went to Halifax in 2007 and we were lucky to find this restaurant where I had the best lobster in my life! When you travel in Canada, to eat a lobster is a bit what the hamburger is for the USA! You will find losbster on the menu everywhere near the sea! So I did eat lobster whenever we... More

Celebrating my niece' graduation, we set out to get her first lobster dinner before leaving Halifax. She was not disappointed! Our waiter was friendly and helpful in the proper way to dismantle & enjoy the crustacean. My halibut was good, but perhaps a little too well done but West Coast standards. There is a great selection of seafood and a... More

The lower level space is a great spot for a small group on a casual occasion, with a relatively simple menu finely prepared.

The three of us all love lobster, so we had the 1 1/2 lb. lobster, the Digby scallops stuffed with lobster, the side lobster tail and of course....the lobster mashed potatoes! Oh yeah, and the spinach salad. The lobsters were sweet, tender and yummy beyond belief. The restaurant is attractive, the wait staff are friendly and efficient, and the food... More

First visit to the Maritimes, first lobster dinner. Best, sweetest lobster we have ever had. Cooked just the correct amount of time (9-10 minutes), 1 1/2 pounds. Side dishes were very good, but after all it's about the lobster, which was delicious. Great service and very nice setting. We were a little worried that this would be too much of... More

We arrived in Halifax and wanted a good Seafood restaurant. We drove down to the water area. There was about 6 city workers repairing the road. I asked them where they would go to eat? Most of them said The Five Fisherman. So taking advice of the locals off we went. Glad we did, great atmosphere in a historical building,... More

If you want an upscale, nice restaurant with fresh seafood that is well prepared, this is the place. We loved it however it was a bit pricey.
