Great ambiance and food

Three of us had the savour Nova Scotia fixed price menu. A good break on the price for a three course menu. I had what was a Caesar salad (couldn't tell from the description) , penne bolognese (veal) and fruit crisp which included maple gelato. Everything was great and tasty. Plenty of veal... read more

Newly arrived to Halifax we have been sampling the wide variety of restaurants this wonderful city have to offer. What we have sampled so far has been very exciting. We now have a new 'our favourite'!!! Da Maurizio was truly outstanding in every way! From the moment we arrived and had our coats taken and were seated at our table... More

Had an amazing dinner at Da Maurizio last evening. Two at our table had the prix fixe meal which was an exceptional deal and I am told their food was excellent. I had the polenta poutine. Fabulous. I also had the ravioli stuffed with braised beef tenderloin. Enjoyed every mouthful. The other party had a seafood dish which he thoroughly... More

I was there as part of a group and the service, food and ambiance were all excellent. Extensive wine list and the servers were refilling glasses consistently. Great seafood but it is challenging to find anything on the menu that doesn't have rich sauces or accompanied by lobster. I ended up choosing a warm radicchio salad to start which was... More

This is a very nice and quaint place in downtown Halifax. Great menu - started with the Scallops, which were great. Then had the Veal with Lobster for my main; excellent. Finished with the three ice cream / brownie dessert...fabulous! My fiancée had the beef tenderloin ravioli and she even let me try some (perfect!). Service was also really good... More

I usually only review restaurants and hotels that I find while travelling but I want to let travellers know that if they are in my city Da Maurizio is an excellent choice for supper. If you are ordering fish regardless of the preparation it will be cooked to perfection. Their specials are always interesting some with sauces that are several... More

My wife and I went to Da Maurizio's for dinner on New Years eve and the food was amazing. They have a mix of traditional Italian cuisine and some Maritime dishes all done with flare and an incredible spice palette. from the appetizers to dessert the food was fresh and flavourful. The wine choices are second to none and complimentary... More

The food was good (not great) but the décor was tired and service was extremely slow and inattentive. You don't get what you pay for here. It felt like a well oiled machine in a negative way- absolutely nothing special. Bare bones service with very long waits between courses. Our bill was over $200.00 for two people.I wouldn't ever return... More
