This is a must try in Halifax. We were there on vacation and if I were to visit again I would definitely go back!

My wife and I ate there early evening and the place was very busy yet everything seem to run like a well oiled machine, there was lots of staff to cover all the bases. We shared the flashed fried calamari, polenta board with 2 sauces and the lobster filled ravioloni. All the dishes were well done and tasted superb. Also... More

I find myself bookless in Halifax. As I wait for my oysters on the half shell at The Bicycle Thief, my fingertips run across an aged worn navy blue linen cover with golden letters that barely reads "The End of the Middle Ages 1273-1453" by Eleanor C Lodge. The pages are stained with time and words underlined in ink scattered... Our hotel concierge sent us there in response to our request for good seafood and not too expensive. Big mistake. Although we had agreed to sitting outside ( the only spot available to eat) it was sooo cold they should either have had outdoor heaters in place (fairly common at the restaurants in town) or not offered. But more important... More

InternatIonal wine list good but could have more choices from the USA. Began our dinner with best spinach dip we have ever had! Our entrees were excellent with flavorful sauces and fresh pasta that made each dish craveable. We finished with housemade peanut brittle on a peanut butter gelato sundae...yum! From start to finish, never wanted for anything. Our service... More

This is a busy, raucous place with a huge menu. Our server tried way too hard to be pleasant but you could see she was under pressure and managing far too many tables. Maybe that's why it was so difficult to get her attention. After we ordered it took more than an hour for our main courses to arrive but... More

We wanted to have dinner tonight at The bicycle thief, after having heard a lot of good comments about this place. We are travelling with our 9 year old daughter and the only reservation possible (I called at 7) was for 9.30pm. So, too late for our kid. We asked to order some take away and this went perfectly! We... More

We went for a walk and just happened upon the bicycle thief for appys. The seafood bisque and scallops were amazing and the staff was friendly and great. Our table outside was very nice to watch the boats on the bay. A very nice experience and great food.

We had a great dinner at the Bicycle Thief. We had a corner table by the window (reservations help). The halibut with artichoke and fennel was very fresh and flavorful. Service was excellent.

The answer is no. Their staff turnover rate is through the roof - along with their prices. Management is brainwashed and cruel to their staff. According to the comments left here I will not recommend, nor attend any occasion at The Bicycle Thief.
