I might have ordered wrong but I found it too rich and not that flavourful but the atmosphere was great. I would try it again and order differently.

Walked n without reservations and were told there was a 30 minute wait, we sat had a glass of wine and within 10 minutes were seated. The food was fantastic, started with the special of the day pasta. Then we ate fish that the waiter recommended, by far the best meal I had on this trip.

My partner and I spent a weekend in Halifax in early August. I am a fan of Italian food and we were headed to an Italian restaurant (close to The Bicycle Thief) when we realized it was closed. My partner had heard of the Bicycle Thief and we headed over hoping to find good food. The moment you walk in... More

The hotel recommended it and the name intriqued us. Little did we know we would have one of the best meals we have had in a restaurant. We did not have a reservation and in the future I would make one, just to be sure that we could get in. They started us off with bread and a hummus spread... More

This is a fairly large restaurant right on the harbour and was packed when we arrived a half hour early for our reservation on a Saturday night. They gracefully accommodated us and put us at a nice table by the window. Despite being busy the service was very attentive. The food was yummy - we had three very different pasta... More

I had the salmon encrusted with pistachio nuts and it was amazing. Everything about the service and atmosphere was perfect. I normally don't eat at expensive restaurants but this place was worth every penny.

A visit to Halifax should definitely include the Bicycle Thief. I was there two weeks ago for my third time and it didn't disappoint. The evening started with an ice-cold gin martini (stirred not shaken!), prepared by Jeffrey, whose style and handle bar moustache are a refreshing change. To call him a bartender is an understatement. He prepares cocktails with... More

Food was very good, especially the Asparagus soup as well as the lobster/corn chowder. However the service was extremely slow. Plan on a leisurely lunch with wonderful food.

The location is the best thing about the Bicycle Thief. We dined on a Saturday night. The restaurant was crowded, lively and fun. The food was pretty good. We enjoyed the mussels in tomato, garlic and pesto, and the pasta. The service was the weakest link: slow and inattentive, but pleasant enough.

We stopped in late with a large group and they were very accomodating to our ever increasing group. We just had drinks and appetiers but the place has nice vibe and seemed very popular. All the shared apps we had were great.
