Stopped in for an early afternoon Sunday brunch and absolutely LOVED it. Amazing coffee to start, followed by a cheese, jam, and baguette plate for a starter. Lots of different cheeses to try along with apple, rhubarb, and a blueberry jam. Eggs Benny and omelet plate for our mains were exceptional. Fantastic service en francais and great food! We will... This review is a long time coming. I have been to this establishment 3 or 4 times this past year. Upon entering, service is prompt and you are usually seated immediately, save for my last visit, the waitresses seemed to take their time, until we were cordially served by the bartender. The food is excellent, never have I had to... More

We had a delicious meal at this restaurant last night. Fantastic personal service from the bartender (Tippy) and the hostess. Our server, however, could not have been more pretentious. She lectured us on our wine selection and when I asked to have most of my meal boxed up for my son-in-laws lunches for the week, she informed us that the... More

Except maybe for the Gnocci, the food is French all the way. We had the Escargot appetizer, which came with small pieces of French bread. The Escargot was fabulous though the serving was a bit small. We enjoyed the server with the French/English conversations, and the co-owner came to our table and discussed the wine selection and selected a very... More

Have been to le Coq a number of times and it's always great. Ordered a number of different items off the starter menu along with wine. We were in no hurry and enjoyed a quite lunch. Service was fantastic. Dinner time can be busy but lunch is a great time to catch up with someone special.

I stopped here with some work colleagues as we were all visiting from out of town and the restaurant came highly recommended. It did not disappoint. The service was fantastic and the food was fabulous. I had a salad to start and the scallops for my main. The scallops were to die for! I am already looking forward to stopping... More

Can't praise enough of this place! Second time in, and both experiences were simply amazing! Already can't wait to come back.

We had trouble settling on which restaurant to go to for dinner. When I looked through Bistro Le Coq’s menu on my iPad, I saw seabass, which I love. I know seabass isn’t local to Nova Scotia, but I love this fish. The restaurant was in walking distance to our hotel. We were amazed to see this elegant casual French... More

We were in Halifax for a day as part of a cruise. After doing a self-guided walking tour for a few fours, it was lunchtime and we happened to walk by Bistro le Coq. We peeked in and it looked charming, as a French bistro should. There were just a few customers in the back but they seated us by... More

Bistro Le Coq's original Poire martini is the reason I now stock Grey Goose pear vodka and St Germain liquor in my home liquor cabinet. So when we arrived there recently for dinner, I immediately ordered one - but failed to note the 2.0. Well, there was $8 down the drain. It was ghastly and really should be taken off... More
