Valentine's Day - French perfection

I cannot believe I have never been to this fabulous gem before! It was recommended by a foodie friend and it lived up to his description. My wife and I have been to France several times and we both agreed the food here is authentic. The escargot and pâté were the real deal. I have had awful... read more

This is a restaurant that is easily forgotten. We finally made it there tonight and were pleasantly blown away!! Everything we had was awesome..... Mussels, oysters, bone marrow, sea bass and duck. Very well prepared. I think the Chefs name is Matt and he is doing a wonderful job. We rank this with Joe Beef and L'Express in Montreal. Put... More

Felt like we were transported somewhere else. The food that we had was over the top good and bring a big appetite. Most of the menu was GF for people who are that way or can't eat wheat. Loved the menu (changes on a regular basis). My wife felt that what we had was very authentic french. Loved the decor.... More

This was a pre-theatre meal stop for six. All agreed, it was excellent. Service was attentive, great ambience, comfortable, and reasonable prices. A glance at the wine list might make you think this is French nouveau cuisine (does anyone pay $526 for a bottle of wine?!?). But wine list aside, this is not pretentious: it is hearty French home-cooking at... More

This was a superb dining experience for sure, and I would still highly recommend it and would love to return. But at such a great restaurant, with such fantastic main courses, we really expected more from the desserts. Honestly, had we not ordered dessert here, I would have given this a "5" rating. We had the Steak Frites and Sea... More

Stopped in for an early afternoon Sunday brunch and absolutely LOVED it. Amazing coffee to start, followed by a cheese, jam, and baguette plate for a starter. Lots of different cheeses to try along with apple, rhubarb, and a blueberry jam. Eggs Benny and omelet plate for our mains were exceptional. Fantastic service en francais and great food! We will... This review is a long time coming. I have been to this establishment 3 or 4 times this past year. Upon entering, service is prompt and you are usually seated immediately, save for my last visit, the waitresses seemed to take their time, until we were cordially served by the bartender. The food is excellent, never have I had to... More

We had a delicious meal at this restaurant last night. Fantastic personal service from the bartender (Tippy) and the hostess. Our server, however, could not have been more pretentious. She lectured us on our wine selection and when I asked to have most of my meal boxed up for my son-in-laws lunches for the week, she informed us that the... More

Except maybe for the Gnocci, the food is French all the way. We had the Escargot appetizer, which came with small pieces of French bread. The Escargot was fabulous though the serving was a bit small. We enjoyed the server with the French/English conversations, and the co-owner came to our table and discussed the wine selection and selected a very... More

Have been to le Coq a number of times and it's always great. Ordered a number of different items off the starter menu along with wine. We were in no hurry and enjoyed a quite lunch. Service was fantastic. Dinner time can be busy but lunch is a great time to catch up with someone special.
