A step back to France!

Bistro le Coq truly has that Parisian feel. After visiting France last year I must say this place is on point! The location is great; centrally located downtown on the well-known Argyle street. The atmosphere, ambiance, service, and most importantly the food was fantastic! Our table of five had a... read more

We visited this restaurant on a lovely summer evening because of its inviting deck out on the street. Also, some of the reviews seemed positive. And... we were hungry! So, we were seated at our table and then left alone for about 15 minutes without service, not even water on a hot evening. When our server did attend to us,... More

We had the duck and got very sick! The service was slow. The only good thing was the wine. This restaurant is overpriced.

If you are looking for the ambiance of a French Bistro, this is the one in Halifax. From the specially mixed cocktails through appetizers and entrees, the entire meal took us back to restaurants on the French Riviera. Of special note is the Pave de Boeuf. Fantastic, especially when washed down with a beautiful Rose. Possibly not a proper pairing... More

Good French food in a lovely ambiance with attentive staff and delicious locally brewed beer (as well as many wines). We had the chicken and chips having just got off the plane from London and it totally hit the spot. Went back two days later for a group event - and the oysters and other canapes they brought round were... More

From the moment I was first greeted to when I finished my desert I enjoyed being teleported to a bistro in France. The waiter was very polite, spoke French quite well and carried out his part to a tee. The food was authentic, served without too much delay and brought me back to my childhood in Europe. The price was... More

This is True french cuisine, not the fancy heavy type but the typical fare I used to enjoy working in France. Beautiful food, prepared with care and presented simply. The most perfect fries done in duck fat - superb.
