My husband and I had lunch at Bistro Le Coq this afternoon. We have been here a few times before and have always enjoyed the ambiance, the service and the food. We are always made to feel welcome and the restaurant is very cozy. We had the French Onion Soup, Mussels Normande, Nicoise Salad and Duck Egg Quiche. Everything was... More

This is a very traditional french bistro serving classically prepared french dishes along with modern recipes in the french stye. Service was impeccable. Leisurely and enjoyable. Drink menu has some different and yummy drinks, The duck dish was wonderful, yummy mixed green salad (leeks, escarole, Boston lettuce etc and traditional vinaigrette), desserts to die for. Wonderful!

My husband, daughter and I really enjoyed our dinner here. The staff were excellent and the food was delicious. The Beehive cocktail with ginger and honey was also notable. We started with the charcuterie plate and escargots, enjoying scallops with ratatouille and bouillabaisse as mains. Lovely macaroni and cheese and greens beans (sides) were perfect for our young side kick.... More

First time to Bistro le Coq for myself and hubby. I have to say the meal was the best I have ever eaten, service was tops, and the ambiance was lovely. Shout out to "Asher" our server who was attentive, knowledgeable, and simply a delight to meet. For those who have not visited, add it to your list of priority... More

le Coq gets a mixed review from me. I had eaten there many times, always ordering the bone marrow, leaving happy. The last time I was there, I ordered the bone marrow and got the steak tartar instead. The waitress seemed skeptical that it was her error. 5 minutes later, raw bone marrow came to the table. I tried to... More

We were in Halifax and had dinner there. The service was excellent, the young waiter strived to speak French with us and displayed some flairs of a French waiter without their notorious snob. I had a gazpacho as a starter and a bouillabaisse as the main dish. Both were excellent, and I think that the bouillabaisse is better than the... More

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner here and the server was warm and professional. We enjoyed a traditional roasted chicken dinner with oregano and duck fat frites (those may sound weird, but they were light and delicious!). Reasonable prices for food and wine. One comment: if you are have children, the archaic N.S. laws do not allow kids in certain restaurants... More
