Fabulous food

I just joined 10 friends for an after-theatre dinner at Efes (the old Café Istanbul) on Spring Garden Road. The food was amazing. The service was very good, particularly for dealing with our large group. Many of us ordered the "Set Menu" for $29. It included a plate of cold and hot appetizers... read more

i went with a group and although they had quite a few wines on the menu they were out of quite a few. The food was OK. A little too much olive oil used.

This was my first visit to Cafe Istanbul but the restaurant came highly recommended and it lived up to our expectations. I was hoping to try their lamb burger but unfortunately it was not available so chose the chicken wrap for lunch. Absolutely delicious where the flavours in this yogurt garlic marinated chicken wrap were incredible. The homemade pita was... More

The food here was so good! It's authentic and delicious, with lots of variety and even has great vegetarian options. I got the veggie platter and it was so many unique flavours, some new, some familiar, but it was all delicious. There's even refills on the wonderful Turkish tea. The atmosphere is just perfect and beautiful. I wish this restaurant... More

I wandered in one evening and wow, was I impressed. I had been fairly unimpressed by some of the other restaurants I had tried in the downtown core of Halifax. This place restored my faith. The host/server was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself has a cozy, friendly ambiance. However, the highlight was the food. It was fantastic. I... More

I went for lamb: the lamb liver appetizer and the lamb shish kebab. I've never had lamb liver before; compared to good beef liver, it seemed a little over-cooked, but maybe that's the style. It was tasty, chopped into cubes, and came with a nice sauce. The shish kebab was good but not exceptional. It came with rice and a... More

This is my favorite place to eat in Halifax. I go so often that the server often knows what I am there to have. The food is always well prepared and fresh. This turkish restaurant deserves more then 5 stars!

Excellent environment with unique and fun decor & artwork. We both ordered the lamb burger (ground lamb mixed with various spice covered with a grilled slice of goat cheese, tomato, lettuce and bourbon bbq sauce). The dish was served on a wooden cutting board. My hackles raised up when I glimpsed the offending pre-packaged crispy french fries. I'm sorry but... More

We shared the appetizer plate, which was really good and generous. Our entrees were also tasty, and we loved the bottle of Malbec that was relatively reasonable in price. The only disappointment was that they were out of baklava even though it was still pretty early in the evening. But the server gave us a free piece of cheesecake in... More
