Not Up To Expectations

My Husband and I stopped in for lunch on our way to Cape Breton for the Holidays. I have eaten Chef Gabrieau's food before at Savor Food and Wine Festival, Pop Up Chef 5 course dinner at Front and Central and also at Devour Food & Film Festival. Every time I have had his food in the past it was... read more

I went here for my birthday lunch one week ago and as usual it was excellent. The Mexican Sope was delicious! It is the second time I have ordered it. The Decor is tasteful and elegant and the service is excellent hundred percent of the time. It is always a very consistent experience and I think it's probably the best... More

Recently we booked a dinner for 34 people following the much acclaimed X Ring Ceremony for St FX University. We were quite fortunate to be able to book our dinner in the Hawthorne Room at Gabrieaus's the evening of the ceremony and it was outstanding! The venue was intimate and lovely, the service was excellent and the food absolutely delicious!... More

We had heard good things so booked a table and were prepared to be pleased. Greeting was poor -- after a quick "good evening, we'll be with you shortly" we were left standing at the entrance for fifteen minutes without another word being said to us. When we were finally seated, no one came near us for another 15 minutes... More

Took clients to lunch here and was very impressed. Very nice inside and food was really good. The soup of the day (cabbage and other things) was really nice as it was cold outside. Didn't get a chance to try the desert but they looked amazing. The staff was very friendly.

From the moment you sit in the nicely appointed dining area and meet the wait staff, you realize you are in for a culinary adventure usually reserved for big cities. The wait staff are courteous, professional and knowledgeable about the amazing menu that Chef Mark Gabrieau presents and eager to help you choose a suitable wine pairing from the ample... More

This restaurant had been recommended to us by the person who had rented us her vacation rental. We stopped for lunch at about 2:30 pm. on Friday. The waiter told us the restaurant was busy because it was the last week of the Celtic Coluours International Festival. He was not overly friendly and spent more time at other tables, perhaps with... We really enjoyed our meal here. Two of us shared the bruschetta starter, good job too, it was a very generous portion for just one, and it came split on two plates. I had the Moroccan Chicken which was really tasty and tender and my other half had lamb pasta. Both were generous servings and tasty. Sadly we were too... More
