Best Restaurant in ANTIGONISH

We have been enjoying Gabrieau's for weeks. Times our absolute favorite . They have excellent lobster scallop risotto. We also love their Halibut and Haddock. They combine Italian recipes with incredibly fresh fish. The atmosphere is great and the service is excellent. We love going there... read more

We had a late dinner reservation and paid for it. The french onion soup was watery and tasteless, the olive oil on the salad, dirty or stale, and I question the lamb in the sausage and lamb entree, as even being such. The sauce or gravy on the afore mentioned as my wife so eloquently stated taste like a add... More

As we travel we always looks for special restaurants that have a unique quality, and I thought we had found one in Gabrieau's Bistro. But the experience was very disappointing! When we arrived we were seated by an unpleasant hostess who also took our drink order. A different lady brought our drinks and took our food order, we could only... More

We stopped for late lunch on a weekday afternoon. We waited for quite a while to be greeted by staff (who were in the middle of a conversation). Our waitresses demeanour from the beginning made it seem like we were not welcome and she outwardly did not appear to be paying attention. We ordered a steak sandwich with a caesar... More

There is no doubt that the food at this restaurant is world class. In August went with a Japanese friend on the way to Cape Breton. He pronounced the Japanese dishes excellent. The good experience stops there. We arrived and I asked about a pasta dish, I was very rudely informed it was only in the evening and told Sylvain would... More

This charming restaurant offers an eclectic mix of European and Asian dishes, all with a gourmet flair. The decor makes you feel like you've entered a wine bistro in Germany - and the wine list is indeed excellent. I had the pork loin in mustard sauce, which was excellent. Others in my party tried the risotto with scallops and lobster,... More

We stop in Antigonish for lunch on our way to Cape Breton. Gabrieau's has an unexpectedly extensive and delicious menu. Try the salad nicoise. Had a great cabbage, potato and bacon soup.

It's great to find a place that has a passion for food and wine. We enjoyed local oysters, lamb with sausages and a tuna pasta. Very lucky to have been served cheese plate, wish they had served the local blue cheese that won awards. They have three menus which should suit all tastes.

Gabrieau's is a lot more than a place to eat it offers a quality dining experience and there is a significant difference. We had lunch there mid-August 2015 and it was delightful. A pleasant setting with both inside and outside seating. It is quiet with a simple with an understated decor and that is very welcome. We discovered this restaurant... More
