Had the filet mignon. Wow, it was so good. And a gigantic tiramisu like dessert. We were part of a large group (about 50), and the food & service was #1

Was back again this summer, and went back to Portobellos for a second time, and food was better. Service still excellent, and wonderful view, they seem to have stepped up food to meet prices. Expect to pay a lot to eat here, but now it is worth it ( I guess) . This time my meal was much better. Glad... More

This was our last dinner in St.John’s and it turned out to be the best meal of our 8-day stay. Food was excellent with great service. We were seated on the 2nd floor facing a nice view of the harbour. We were with a large group and despite that, meals were all served at the same time and were all... More

We ate lunch here and were highly pleased with the food and service. We were seated at a table overlooking the harbour in their upstairs dining room. The room was well appointed with plenty of space between tables. Our server was gracious and great sense of humor. We both had their pan fried cod which was perfectly prepared. We also... More

Casual dress, beautiful décor, fantastic view and wonderful food....what more could you want? Priced accordingly for a good restaurant. $$ Menu is steak, chicken, fish....everything we ordered (5 of us) was great.

We love to visit Portabellos for our anniversary. To start with they have ample parking and anyone who knows downtown St. John's understand the limitations of parking your car. The view is a great one of the St. John's harbour and Signal Hill. The menu is simple, yet classic. Plenty of traditional favourites to satisfy everyone. The desserts are good,... More

Last night, we were 6 diners for my father's birthday. My parents are elderly (read, fussy!). Food was terrific. My parents, who don't have big appetites, both replaced their entree with a second appetizer. Presentation was lovely, with an assortment of mixed veggies to "dress up" the second appetizer. Service was well-paced. Drinks, bread and first course came quickly. Main... More

We visited Portobello's with a rather large party for supper - I believe there was 14 of us. We were seated upstairs where we has an absolutely breathtaking view of St. John's harbor. The drinks and water came quickly, and our water glasses were never empty before a server came to fill it up. At one point before our meals... More
