We travel to St. John's yearly, and most years we visit the Casbah. In the past, it was a highlight of our trip. This year, it was rather disappointing. It was fairly clear that there was a shortage of wait staff, or something like it, and while this can certainly happen from time to time, we didn't feel attended to,... More

Really love this place, the food is great, portions are nice, service is just as it should be. The menu isn't that great that you can't make up your mind, still there is alway's something I Just loved it !

My husband and I ate here last night and were very satisfied and impressed. I have to admit, I have stayed away from trying the Casbah for a long time because of seeing the kitchen staff right next door smoking and this generally turns me off from dining somewhere. We decided however, to try something different, as we have eaten... More

This place isn't what it used to be. I don't know if it's a change in ownership or attitude, but I won't be back for a meal until one or both change. We waited much too long to be seated. While we sat at the bar it seemed those behind it were more interested in cleaning than seeing if we... More

It was July 2nd, we wanted somewhere casual and fine. My friend suggested we try and take a look. Had a martini, 6/10 nothing wrong though not spectactular as a martini should be. The women has a salads,. ample and tasty. I ventured with the special - a rib eye, potatoe bake and vegies. I was blown away. The meat... More

Tonight's special was a piece of salmon encrusted with poppy seed and sesame seed, swimming in an offputting sour-coconut sauce. It sounds more interesting than it tasted. Two other occasions have been more successful but the price is high. The music is loud. Service is reasonable. I don't think we'll be back. Seating layout is a bit weird with upstairs... More

It's hard to determine what restaurants will be good and which will be a dissapointment, especially if you're not from the area. Luckily we had a friend who has been to this restaurant many times, and recommended The casbah. The restaurant is located just on the fringe of the main downtown area, but is certainly accesible by walking. It is... More

We were walking down Duckworth and saw the sign board for the brunch specials. A Fritatta and a Burger. Not unusual, but as we were hungry and it was that time, we took a chance. Although the exterior and entrance are very low key we were pleasantly surprised once inside. The staff were very friendly and helpful and seated us... More

The lunch menu is fabulous! Their soups and sandwiches are always slightly unexpected and always delicious. Its a favorite spot of mine and I've been often. The lunch menu is definately well-priced but the supper menu can be a little pricey, especially if you enjoy local seafood. Absolutely worth a visit!

My wife and I were there last evening and throughly enjoyed our meal. We both had the evening special, I the halibut and my wife had the chicken. The halibut was absolutely excellent, fresh and properly cooked. Always room for improvement, and here it is, the garnish on the crab cakes was a fairly limp piece of lettuce, fresh parsley... More
