Oliver's used to be one of our favourite places to eat. Alas, no more. A recent visit left my husband and I disappointed and totally ripped off. Firstly, the menu had changed, sans some of our favourite entrees. If one could actually read the menu, that is, with poor font and lack of lighting. After poring laboriously through the meagre... I love eating in St. John’s, breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner, there is always a vast assortment of restaurants to pick from. When visiting the city I usually do not make specific plans for eating out as I like to depend on social media to guide my decision, let’s just say my review starts from the moment I post on... The food at Oliver's is incredible and the prices are reasonable for downtown eating. We had the beef tip spring rolls and the and a goal cheese appetizer to start both were excellent. Our waitress was attentive and bc of the smaller seating it felt more intimate than other downtown restaurants. We had the pasta and the chicken special for... More

The waitress was attentive, decent wine list, and I like that the menu wasn't 100 pages long. A small number of carefully selected dishes. I had a portobello mushroom pie type dish. The mushrooms were covered in a filo pastry type coating and they came across as meaty, along with a vegetable jus, sides of zucchino, asparagus, and garlic mashed... More

The appetizer special was a scallop dish. It consisted of 4 scallops in a beautiful sauce. It turned out that it was $19 and was more expensive than all the other appetizers on the menu. My wife ordered a rack of lamb. It arrived cold/barely warm. When the waitress brought it back it was warmer but was missing some of... More

Consistently Good. I have been to this spot many times and I can say that I have never had a bad meal here. The food is reasonably priced compared to many downtown restaurants and I think this place has a better atmosphere than many of them. I don't want to say the seating is limited, but it is on the... Probably my favorite restaurant in the city. The food is delicious, and it has a very nice intimate atmosphere. It's not a big place, so allows for the intimacy, unlike other venues around. Highly recommend it.

Couples night out. Two visits in one. Will not be going back. Food was just so so. Portions not great. Slow service for the money paid.

I found myself unexpectedly in St John's for a flight stopover and happened upon this restaurant without doing any prior research. I was very happily surprised by the find, as the service, food and wine selection were excellent. Highly recommended.
