We were in St. John's for a few days. Our last evening, was at Oliver's. The decor was simple, yet cosmopolitan. The server was very accommodating. We started with fresh bread and molasses butter. Excellent. I had the cod feature which was excellent for the main course. The feature soup was a roasted sesame seed, garlic, cilantro broccoli, was absolutely... More

We both enjoyed the cod special at this restaurant. Service and food were good at dinner so we went back the nest day for lunch. The chicken panini special was good.

We ate our way around Newfoundland and had some wonderful meals. We stumbled into Oliver's almost as a last resort and it was amazing! The Mussels were the best I had all trip and maybe ever. The Halibut was done perfectly and the meal was fantastic overall. Excellent wine selection as well

I took a week-end trip to St John's and used Trip Advisor to get ideas on where to eat on a Friday evening. The food and the atmosphere were awesome. The restaurant was busy and there was a good buzz of conversation. Our server was very gracious and had loads of personality. There were four in our party and we... More

This is a great place for brunch, lunch or dinner. The meals are always tasty and the specials are always good! Been eating here for years and never get bored! The food is good and if you like soups it's the place to go. The eggs Benny is good too!

Three of us stopped in for a Saturday lunch/brunch. It was late, and we were happy to be seated with no problem. We shared the mussel appetizer, great flavorful broth, slightly spicy. No wasted mussels, all were open and tender. We had the scallops, fresh and perfectly seared. Then the fish chowder ( delicious and filling), spinach salad ( great... More

Hadn't been to Oliver's in a decade so was interested in trying it out again. Took a chance for my 25th anniversary dinner but was not disappointed. Asked for a table by the window and although not guaranteed they made it happen. The server greeted us with a happy anniversary (i had mentioned it when booking but a nice touch),... More

Oliver's is a favorite of mine and my husband. We've been there many times for lunch and dinner. It's our go-to restaurant for any type of romantic celebration. The food is fantastic, the restaurant is quaint and romantic. If you plan to go, make sure you make a reservation. The restaurant is small (quaint) and always full, which is a... More

A charming, small restaurant on Water St in St John's has some of the best daily fish and well-prepared dishes for a discerning visitor. I had fresh Atlantic cod one evening and a beautifully presented and tasty lobster the second time I went. The staff were friendly without being intrusive, and little touches such as asking me if I would... More
