A very nice dinning experience!

The food and service in Bacalao was a pleasure. I appreciated the emphasis on locally sourced food. Our meals were very good. The service was polite, prompt and professional. I was pleased that we had dinner at this restaurant.

We went to the restaurant prepared for a lovely meal and we're not disappointed. The food and service were terrific. Both of us had different mains but shared the appetizer, cod tongue salad, and the dessert, which was three different kinds of chocolate bark. Delicious. Our mains, duck breast and lamb were great as well. Our server was super. Congrats.

They know how to bring local flavors forward in eclectic, tasty blendings. Been twice recently: once with a business group - all were impressed and recently with a dear friend - both times again -perfect. The baccalo mains were a hit with everyone. In a sea of often sameness in the St. John's food scene - Baccalo has something relaxingly... More

My wife and I were visiting Newfoundland to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and asked the hotel for dinning advice for dinner on that very special night. The suggestion of Bacalao was perhaps the best dinning tip I have ever received. Bacalao is a warm and welcoming restaurant with great ambience. A working fireplace in the dinning rooms adds a... So was the fifteen minute walk up the steep hill behind Delta St Johns Hotel, in sub-zero celsius temperatures (32F for the Americans), going to be worth the effort? A restaurant in a converted home?....this better be good. Warm and welcoming from the start, in 42 years, I have never yet been asked in the U.S. "Can I take your... More

I've eaten here a few times but the menu has changed significantly in a very positive way. So positive that we had a lot of difficulty trying to decide what to have! I've never had the experience before of narrowing it down to six items and being unable to decide which are the two that I will actually have. What... More

We had a wonderful, unique Newfoundland dinner, with a gourmet spirit, to celebrate our anniversary.

Loved it - such a nice unique setting for brunch. Everything was so delicious and the service was ultra professional. It made me feel rich! I like that it's a bit off the downtown strip too, a bit quieter.

I've been to Bacalao several times since it opened and have yet to be disappointed. The ambiance is lovely: restored old house with parking behind. Other than the rooms being a bit chilly for me, I was really impressed. The menu, while not extensive covers all the bases. But it does so with a twist. No Cesar salad here; but... More
