Great variety of food. I went with friends and even though I don't drink or eat meat, I had no trouble finding something on the menu for me. Everything tasted fresh.

A very pleasant place to spend some time. We decided to have a drink and some food at the pub - one flight down from the main restaurant. Many, many beers and ales on tap, plus two hand-drawn real ales. The pub menu was somewhat limited, but the food we had was very good. What made the evening, though, were... More

a very nice outdoor patio close to the outdoor summer stage. The hostess was great in getting us a table and our server was good. Prices were very good. We had an enjoyable break from our wandering around St John's downtown there.

We must have hit this place on a good night (June 30) because the fish & chips we had was really excellent. The server said the piece of fish was ":as big as my forearm".......and it was! And it was delicious. Fried a golden brown, not overdone, fresh haddock or cod.....mmmmm Server was informative and friendly. Not a problem at... More

We had been planning on going to this restaurant since seeing it featured on "You've Gotta Eat Here", which made everything look hearty, flavourful and appealing. A couple years have passed since then, and we wonder now if the chef has moved on. We were very disappointed that the lobster roll was no longer on the menu, so we had... More

Was both surprised & disappointed to see the very limited dinner menu and higher prices. I could have lived with that but the food was not good at all. Overcooked and dry, hard buttermilk chicken fingers, accompanied by stale, cold kettle chips (usually the first thing I order at the Alehouse!) and a teensy dessert of passable bread pudding with a... Went to the Ale house because in the past I had enjoyed the food and service plus I recommend going. But honestly don't know how often I will be doing that again without warning of the prices especially. They used to have a fairly good size menu to choose from but it has shrunk and from what I remember the... More

Had lunch recently at the Saint John Ale House. Updates to the pub look great, and the staff looked as though they were enjoying themselves. The Maple Bacon Scallops and Fried Pumpkin Pie were excellent (the best scallops that I have ever had). Will defiantly return in the near future!

I was greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant, and was seated quickly outside. Robyn (my server) was very attentive to my needs, and recommended my side dish when I was hesitant. I had the beet and goat cheese salad, with a side of fries. Both were very good. I was extremely impressed with Carissa also - as she came by... More
