Great place to eat

It is a lovely mix of local flavours. The best experience is on the patio along the boardwalk on a beautiful sunny day!

During this visit our gang went to the lower bar area that has a wall of beer taps. I was very happy with the atmosphere, selection and staff. We actually went to the Ale House twice, once before a show and then again after. Both times we were greeted with very friendly (typical of Saint John) servers. They were willing... More

We are regulars every month and have never been let down by the consistency of the food. Scallops are always great and in our opinion the best you can get! At this point I've had half the menu and can't say anything bad. Keep changing it up, love seeing new food options when we visit. Also amazing beer selection!

Too expensive, not enough conservative choices on the menu... Loud atmosphere. Service was ok. Four thin slices of baguette was $3, most restaurants give bread to their customers. I won't be back.

Had a small family wedding reception of 17 people. Between drinks and meals spent between $400 and $600 total. Waited 10-15 minutes for drinks, another 30 minutes for meals. The restaurant would not permit the wedding cake to be served since it was outside food. THIS IS THE ONLY RESTAURANT IN SAINT JOHN I KNOW THAT DOES THIS. The menu... More

We were in St. John's on a cruise and the weather was not conducive to sightseeing that day so what to do? We made our way to the covered mall, looked around and then spotted the Saint John Ale House. There is an upstairs and downstairs and we headed down to a rather sleek looking bar where we ordered a... More

Was under the weather and wanted some comfort food for supper. I had the bangers and mashed before and wanted to test the consistency. I was not disappointed! 2 good-sized sausages, lots of mashed potatoes, sauerkraut and a tasty mustard au jus (I think that's what it's called). Perfect for soothing the man-cold. Great flavours! If anything, I could have... More

I have visited this restaurant/bar several times and always receive excellent service and food. Their fish n chips are awesome. The last time I had the burger there, it may well have been the best burger I've ever had.
