Sat outside on a nice day. Bar service and drinks were pretty good. Ordered the crab dip which, for the money, was quite disappointing. I couldn't detect much crab, and it seemed like I was just scooping up flavored sour cream with some deep-fried pita chips. Seemed pricey and unremarkable as to the food we tried.

We sat outside because it was a nice evening and had a late supper. We both had the fried haddock and the coating was light and crispy. The fish was moist and not greasy. There was a huge beer selection from different provinces and countries. It's located in a string of restaurants by the pier. I would recommend and go... More

I have tried food at this restaurant 3 different times and all 3 times, I got below standard food and service. Would not recommend this restaurant as a place to eat in Saint John NB, With so many other great places to eat, I would not choose to eat at the Saint John Ale House

My family and I were just visiting St John for the day and just chose to eat there and it turned out to be the best east coast restaurant/pub. the food was amazing and the staff really friendly and helpful. Definitely a place to stop and eat.

Stopped in on our travels eastward. Convenient location along the waterfront. Damp weather had to eat Indoors. Upstairs is main restaurant and downstairs pub. Great drink selection (hence ale house) but food was average pub fare. Very busy. Service was friendly and attentive.

I really look up to Jesse Vergan. I loved him on Top Chef. Such a brilliant chef. I was so excited to go to his restaurant, so I really want to say nothing bad! But there was one thing that needs mentioning. I will state all the positives first though. I love the location and atmosphere of the restaurant. We... More

Not sure why this restaurant is so far down the list of places to eat in SJ.. I would consider SJAH one of the top 3 restaurants in Saint John. We've eaten here many, many times and the food and service has always been amazing! Never a disappointment! The loaded kettle chips are a must try!

Charging me 50 cents for water and not telling me a head of time is a money grab! The grilled salad is awful! Not much selection on the menu either. Not a good place to visit

Do yourself a favour and swing in to this spot. The Cask IPA was great, a full bodied beer with a slightly fruity taste. The Maple Bacon Wrapped Scallops are also to die for! Well worth the time and money. Cost was a little high but nothing out of the ordinary.
