I was in the area and thought I'd stop in for breakfast. It was a Tuesday at about 9:50am. The cafe was packed, and I noticed the sign saying breakfast was on special til 10:00 at an awesome $4.99. I was very lucky to get my order in at the till by 10:00am, and then seated (as most tables were... More

My parents always stay at the Norwood when they visit from BC, and we've been very happy with the Jolly Friar until this trip. When we went there for dinner, all of our meals were cold, and about half of the ingredients (including tomato) were missing from my clubhouse. The waitress was very nice, though. On my parents' last morning... More

Ate 3 meals here while staying at the norwood hotel. All were either good to very good. Service was also very fast. I had the clubhouse sandwich for lunch with a homemade pea soup very good soup and the sandwich did not lack for toppings. Ribs for dinner one night. They were decent. Pizza for dinner last night. It was... More

today 5 of us met here for lunch and though the food wasn't 5star it was what we expected the food was well prepared and served hot in a timely manor the decor is a bit dated but family friendly and quiet enough for business meeting I have eaten here a few times for different reasons and I have never... Met friends for breakfast while staying at the hotel. Great breakfast combo of 2 eggs, bacon sausage or ham, toast, hashbrowns and coffee for $4.99. Must be popular, as it made for a 25 minute wait to get in, and when we did it was past the cut-off time for the special, but they let us order the special anyhow.... More

Went for dinner the other night at the Jolly Friar Restaurant in the Norwood Hotel in Winnipeg. Used to be a standby of ours but times changed, prices rose and we found something we liked closer to home. The restaurant looks like someone's home, with a mixture of booths and tables and walls decorated with paintings of - food, amongst... More

Always get a good breakfast here, no need to go anywhere else . Unlike like many hotels where you have to go elsewhere for breakfast when staying there, Norwood is not the case. You get a very good breakfast at a great price at the Jolly Friar. Also have always experienced a friendly staff which is a nice way to... More

The food is OK.....my wife had a salad each time, whereas I had soup and sandwich. The Canadian peasoup was very good. The taco sald is good. Order anything and it seems to be good value.

When I read the other trip advisor reviews, I am telling myself that I must be from another planet...the Jolly Frier is ok, no more. Food is almost the equivalent of different fast food chains. The staff for lunch and breakfast is at the most ok. Decor is overdue. Atmosphere is absent. In a word, it does the job when... More

My family comes here on a fairly regular basis, and we are never disappointed. My usual in the vegetarian skillet, with potatoes,Vita eggs, cheese, spinach, onions, peppers and hollindase sauce. Great portion, good value and delicious food. Servers are always friendly and prompt. Will continue weekly breakfasts here.
