The best thing about BDI is its beautiful location--walk across the bridge and you find yourself in a lovely community to walk through, especially fun if you like to look at character homes. The ice cream, is ice CREAM not ice milk, and if that floats your boat you'll like the place. Myself, I don't think there's anything special about... More

The BDI has long been an institution in Winnipeg. Even after the worst winter in 116 years, and a pretty poor spring so far, This is the place Winnipeggers go for the Goog special, Banana split, other delectable concoctions or even a lowly cone. The ice cream is always deliciously smooth, creamy and flavorful. The lineups can be awful. but... More

Order an ice cream and go for a walk across the bridge to view the river. For families, you will discover a small park with swings and play sets. Others may want to go for a stroll around the loop and admire the stately homes. At times, service at BDI is slow and parking can be a challenge, but the... More

SO many desserts to choose from here and all equally delicious! The worst part about coming here for ice cream is having to wait in the queue but it's well worth it.

We try to go here every summer time. Every time we go it's always a treat. I usually spend no more than $20 for 5-6 person. Expect a line up and limited parking though. A must try when you visit Winnipeg in summer time. Best seller.

I drove my over the weekend and I was so sad seeing the Closed for the Season sign, We are very lucky in that we can cycle to BDI very easily. Absolutely best ice cream in Canada. The only U.S comparison would be Culvers. BDI is more of an experience than an ice cream treat. Other reviewers are correct- parking... More

A trip down memory lane brings my girlfriend back here every time she comes home to Winnipeg. She wanted to share that memory with me! On a warm Thursday afternoon, we just simply came for ice cream! Three of us (including two children) had soft maple ice cream in a cup while the other had a vanilla cone. We walked... More

Or, perhaps you prefer a blueberry upside down milkshake? Swirl ice cream cone delicious. Grotty little park benches line view of river (thank you for maintaining grass so view is there!) Elm street bridge is a great place to head for walk after all those calories!

A classic ice cream joint on the side of the Red River. It's an older establishment but has some history and I was here about 10 years ago, figured we would try it again. First thing we found out, as out of towners.... BRING CASH. We had to drive all the way back to Osborne Street (a few kilometers away)... More
