With the closing of Provence on December 31st, 2011; they decided to purchase Promenade Bistro and serve fabulous French comfort food at reasonable prices. They are building on the strengths of Promenade’s breakfast and lunch service while adding a café aspect of fair trade and organic coffees to go at this landmark St. Boniface restaurant. During the evening the restaurant will feature affordably priced food and wine pairings as well as service till midnight.

This is a busy little restaurant on the corner overlooking the Provencher Bridge and the soon to be open, Museum of Human Rights. They have a small patio out front but we opted to eat inside. Service was pleasant and unrushed. They have a menu with lots of choices and a few specials, soup de jour, quiche de jour, and... More

Wonderful food; pleasant, knowledgeable wait staff; pleasing decor, and a view to die for - perfect photo op for The Forks, The Canadian Museum for Human Rights, and the Esplanade Louis Riel. It all makes for a very enjoyable dining experience.

From the moment we walked in I knew the night would be perfect! The staff was super friendly - offering service in both french and english. My Hubby and I were seated at a window table over looking the Human Rights Museum and The Forks. We ordered the fixed price tapas for two, with the wine parings. Each of the... More

Dinner with a couple of colleagues while in the 'Peg speaking at a conference - one of them found this spot in St Boniface, just across the bridge. Décor was pretty average. Service OK, though waited a long time to flag server down for the bill when we were done. Apps: Caesar salad was very good. One colleague had the... More

The best part of our Sunday brunch here was the nice view from the corner table we were fortunate to be seated at. The ambiance inside was much more basic than we were expecting from the restaurant's high-falutin' name. My eggs benedict with country ham was tasty enough, though nothing memorable. I can't recall the last time I've received such... More

We do apologize for your experience and the items you listed in your disappointing brunch review. Cold service is something that should not occur and is certainly not what we what. We will address this with all the staff and our next meeting. Please contact me at 204-999-5827 or at shawn@cafeandwine.com because I would like more information. More

Excellent, tasty main dishes, good wine, great bilingual service, easy parking in front if you're lucky or on nearby city streets, scrumptious desserts, and I don't usually have dessert at all. Plus a view of the not-yet-open Museum of Human Rights across the Red River and the lights on the Provencher bridge. Would most assuredly go back next time in... More

Went to a lunch meeting to this location. First impressions were not received well. I needed to circle the block twice to find any parking withing reasonable walking distance. Our waiter did not seem to be on the ball, he went through the motions but his timing / attention was off. We had to ask twice to get our bill.... More

What a great find in St Boniface! I had trouble deciding what to try on the menu...some great choices. Landed on the Bison Tourtière which was very good, served with whipped potatoes and an assortment of freshly sautéed vegetables. Will definitely be going back to try their fixed price 4 course dinner with wines to match. Highly recommend.

Came here for a business lunch with a college. The food was wonderful. I had the Bison Burger which was absolutely amazing. The Atmosphere was great. Professional during the lunch hours but I am sure in the evening it could be considered romantic. The view from our table was great, the Provencher Bridge & surrounding area. I would recommend this... More
