La Ville Gare was one of my favorite restaurants when I lived in Winnipeg years ago. On my visits 'home' , my group of friends gathered at different restaurants over the years. This last visit, I suggested Resto Gare after looking at the online menu - which by the way has an impressive array of items at modest cost. We... More

beautiful place, awesome staff, and great food, but it is up scale, don't wear jeans and a baseball hat. You will feel underdressed, but they will still treat you with respect. Had a good night. would definitely recommend. Better for a couples date than a regular diner, althought they are supposed to have a deadly lunch for the average hungry... More

First time I went I was 18. I am now 55. It was known as La Veille Gare back then. I don't go every year but it is the restaurant that I come back too. Service is top notch. Food is awesome.

The physical space is very nice and welcoming in appearance. Bring a heavy sweater if you're going in the winter as it is cold. I have eaten here numerous times, and each time I go the service has been worse and the food is only ok, especially for the price. The bright spot would be that the bread is very... More

My first time at this venue. We were a party of 30 and I will say we had absolutely excellent service. I started with a lobster chowder and dare I say it was the best bowl of chowder I have ever had. I almost regretted not skipping dinner and having more chowder and bread. I have heard about the slow... More

Haven't been here in years so did not know what to expect. We found wonderful atmosphere with a Friday night jazz duo playing unobtrusively in the background. The service was helpful and fast. The menu is ambitious, which could be a concern, however my Poisson Fumee Local was spot on and a great intro to my main course Crevettes Etouffee.... More

Dropped in for a appies and drinks with my wife on a Friday. The service was friendly the food was delicious (try the French onion soup), and the drink menu was great. What a cool treasure tucked away in Winnipeg's French Quarter, great live jazz too. Will definitely go again.

The restaurant itself is a stunner on the inside and the food is great! We went there for valentines day and we had a little quartet come and sing at our table. They sung for everyone, but it was stiff super special. Goes to show this restaurant goes above and beyond top make your night special. Great date location!

Went with family ( of us including 2 < 12 ), although when we entered I wasn't sure it was the place for younger children, however we were made welcome by the staff, seated at a large table ( obviously). The decor is interesting, antique sort of, with a rail car as the bar I think, although we never went... More
