Fish and Chips by the beach

This is a popular place along the beach. I came at 5pm on a Monday and every table was already full. They give you a bonus piece of fish, so the one piece is actually two pieces, with a hearty portion of fries. We took the meal to the beach, where it was delicious (and I think the neighboring sea... read more

Moby Dixk's has a solid reputation and for many years it was the ONLY place to eat fish'n'chips in White Rock. However, since it was sold, the food is mediocre at best. Soggy, over-cooked, and bland - as far as I'm concerned, it's the end of an era for Moby Dick's. Go to Coney Island instead, it's right next door.

Can eat in the restaurant or take it across the street to the picnic tables by the ocean front that one stipulates when they order so the restaurant can serve on a plate or in a box to take out to the beach..

We thought we should try a few of the fish and chip places while we were staying in White Rock. Our host recommended the Moby Dick. It opens at 11:30 so we got there about 11:45 and all the patio and almost all the inside seating was already taken. Plus there was a huge lineup at the takeout window! This... More

To be fair it was another Fish & Chips shop nearby (there are several) that made the claim to cook fish & chips 'just like England'. Moby Dick is a nice small restaurant that does pretty good food. They serve generous portions so beware you don't order more than you can eat!

We waited for door opening at lunch. Our foursome was quickly seated. Service was prompt, friendly and informative. We were all here to have Fish & Chips. We did. Very good. Will be back.

My friend, her teen-aged son and I visited the Moby Dick on a Tuesday for lunch. We were impressed that the little restaurant was full, but soon found that the cheery waiters surely accounted for a lot of the crowd. The boy is gluten-free, so this was not a great place for him as they cook the chips in same... More

Was recommended by a local, so tried it visiting friends. Small and not elegant, but not why your there. Excellent Fish and chips, coleslaw just right, prices pretty decent for the location and the amount you get. Ask the waitress "how" to order before you do as you get very large portions, and it may be in your interest to... More

This is the best fish and chips on the beach. Not that much room to eat in the restaurant but there are picnic tables by the beach. Watch the seagulls they can be aggressive. They love Moby Dicks too.

Ate here previously and thought it was very average despite others recommending it. Called here tonight because someone had mentioned new management (?). A lady, who I thought might be the owner, totally ignored me while she made petty small talk with a man who had already been served. I was about to leave when she suddenly asked what I... More
