No Surprises Here

Salty's is an established hole in the wall (no offence intended) in White Rock. Been here seems like forever. Fisn n' chips is the staple and they offer several varieties including cod, haddock, halibut & salmon. On our most recent visit we split the 2 piece cod. More than adequate for 2 people... read more

We had a hankering for good ol' fashioned halibut and chips on a Friday night and this place exactly met our expectations. The food was quick, ample, lightly-battered, tasty and satisfying. The restaurant is clean, suitably decorated and conveniently located a block off White Rock's main commercial intersection - 16 and 152. We'd go back without hesitation, and we will.

I have seen some negative reviews on Salty's on Trip Advisor but my experience has been all positive. Three colleagues along with myself went there for an early dinner last Saturday and we all left with very positive comments on the food, the service and that the cost was really reasonable. Two of us had the halibut and chips and... More

So I've been to a lot of different restaurants, but none were as bad as this. We went up to order our food, we asked for 4 orders of fish and chips, a hot dog and 2 milks. They gave us 1 order of fish and chips, a hamburger, and no milk, yet still charged us for what we actually... More

Not much else to say that filkfam didn't say previous......except that the waitresses were very pleasant and attentive. But remember flour and water glue that you used to make as a kid? Well that's the batter used to coat the fish. Zero flavor. No joke, not stretching the truth at all. Wasn't cooked enough either, that's actually how I discovered... More

Small shop, has been describes as a-hole-in-the-wall; very good service. Both of us had the cod and chips and felt they were quite good. Chips could have been hotter when they came to the table. Would likely not wait in line to cross the border both ways just to eat lunch here, but am glad we came to try this... More

To be honest I was really torn on the number of stars to give this restaurant, because it seemed to be very popular and I'm sure that it is well-loved by people who enjoy true British food. Apparently, I am not one of them. I do however LOVE good Halibut and Chips and the ones here were a waste of... More

For our $$, this is the best deal in White Rock at less than $10 per person for anything on the menu. This is just a small restaurant with an English theme that could be described as a hole-in-the-wall. But it has the best halibut I've ever had. (It also has cod & haddock, but we prefer the halibut.) Chips... More
