Good but not great

During a recent visit to Whistler, my wife and I ditched the kids for one evening and dined here. The food was fresh and tasty, skewing towards the hearty end of traditional italian fare, and perfect for the ravenous skier. I particularly enjoyed my fried mozarella. The atmosphere was convivial... read more

Busy Saturday night (holiday weekend) without reservation but greeting staff exceptional. Table for two, near the entry door which was not a problem. Server very attentive and food delivered in timely manner. Second visit to this restaurant (years apart) but nothing lacking in quality. May not be a cheap meal but worth every cent when you have that quality. The... More

Our first time at Il Caminetto de Umberto. Overall, we had a terrific dining experience. I ordered the salad topped with goat cheese. It was a huge salad and the piece of goat cheese was large. Then I ordered their lobster pasta. Again, it was very, very good. The place was busy, but the waiter was good about checking in... More

With temperatures dropping below zero in the village drop into Il Caminetto for your warm hug to get the spring back in your step . The Minestrone soup is the catalyst for warming your insides , you would need to go deep into an Italian village to find a Nonna that makes it better ... Delicious !!!! The local muscles... More

This place has been around for over 30 years and still serves excellent Italian meals with great service. The wine list was excellent.

Great meal however our service was very average. Tables were also right on top of each other so it felt like we were sitting at the same table as the couple next to us.

Had such a nice meal at Umberto's and thought it was really well priced. The service was great - the waiter really knew his stuff and was prompt. Desert was the highlight of my meal - the lemon tart was to die for. Would go again when in Whistler.

When we were in Whistler for 6 days we went to this restaurant twice. The service is great in this restaurant. Concerning the menu, you do not get the feeling that you are forced into any decisions by the staff. One can keep it simple by taking a lasagne. The tuna dishes served as a starter and main course are... More
