Locally inspired cuisine set in a casual bistro atmosphere. Chef Nicholas Cassettari combines his classic training, top tier experience, and world travels with the best of B.C.'S bounty to create the fine flavours at Alta Bistro. Service is casual and prompt in the dining room and bar. The wine list is French focused, with the best of B.C. As well as international selections (many by the glass) with Enomatic machines dispensing fine and eclectic selections to pair with Alta's cuisine. Mixologists behind our bar craft some of Whistler's finest cocktails. The cozy bistro atmosphere is lively and welcoming. Reservations are a must.

Great vibe, great service, great food

We had a pleasant meal with no outstanding courses . The food was nice but did not have that X factor . The staff were courteous and the restaurant atmosphere was friendly

Not only was the food absolutely delicious (amazing combinations of flavors and textures) but the service was impeccable. This was the first place in Whistler where we got personalized attention. Chris, our waiter, was fantastic and very knowledgeable (especially about wines). Very happy to have found this place!

My wife and I had dinner at Alta Bistro in late January 2016. The ambience is nice even if the room is a bit noisy. The menu looked great, and other reviews definitely were solid. I really wanted to love this place. I didn't love this place. The food was good, but maybe reminded me a bit of the weird... More

Although we had a 9pm reservation, we didn't get seated until 925pm or so - on another day I would be annoyed but luckily for Alta I had a few aperitifs before heading to dinner. Place was packed. The staff kept cool heads under all that pressure and were professional. Food was faultless. Loved the focus on local and/or organic... More

We spent a week in Whistler... We heard from several people that the Rim Rock cafe is the best place to eat in town... It was good, but the Alta Bistro is better! Definitely a very creative, very flavorful farm to table menu. Nice wine list. Great service. Food was absolutely delicious. Not cheap, but worth it. If you want... More

I very rarely write reviews, but this restaurant is so good that I feel it deserves some great words. Truly underrated, it should be #1 or #2 in Whistler (with Araxi). Cuisine is fantastic , innovative and inventive. All this with a very relaxed atmosphere. Go there and you'll love it !

Unique combinations, wonderful flavor. We both had the char and it was the best I have ever had. Salads an unusual combination that worked perfectly. Service was prompt and server knowledgeable. Wish we hadn't found it in our last night or we would have gone back! Don't forget starters, oysters not to be missed!

We ate in 5 different restaurants while we were in Whistler, and this was far and away the best. It has an interesting menu and great food. It was mobbed when we were there, so the service was a little slow, but I'd go back again and again.

This was the last restaurant we visited in Whistler and it was an unforgettable one! It definitely deserves a much higher ranking than it currently has and I can say with certainty that we would recommend this location over Rimrock, the current number one at the time of this review. Not to say Rimrock is bad. We went there as... More
