Locally inspired cuisine set in a casual bistro atmosphere. Chef Nicholas Cassettari combines his classic training, top tier experience, and world travels with the best of B.C.'S bounty to create the fine flavours at Alta Bistro. Service is casual and prompt in the dining room and bar. The wine list is French focused, with the best of B.C. As well as international selections (many by the glass) with Enomatic machines dispensing fine and eclectic selections to pair with Alta's cuisine. Mixologists behind our bar craft some of Whistler's finest cocktails. The cozy bistro atmosphere is lively and welcoming. Reservations are a must.

Character and quality

This is a special restaurant, full of personality, character and quality. Food is exquisite and sophisticated, but not quite as the more common nouvelle cuisine. The list is limited in choice but all good. Owner (I think) is expert in wines, so is advice is a must. Wine list is the best in the... read more

We had eaten there before and had an outstanding meal but this was very average. we opted for a 3 course set meal, service was slow and a little depressing! wine was warm but the server insisted it was the right temperature. Food was nicely presented but we left hungry. Nearly $275 for 4 of us, had a meal the... More

We had looked forward to visiting this place as we had read that this bistro offered fine dining. Upon arriving we were underwhelmed with the decor (which is more suited for a coffee shop than fine dining) but decided that it was not as important as the food would be. Our server was pleasant at first but his attitude rapidly... More

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review and we take all reviews very seriously and we apologise for the un-satisfactory service, as this type of experience is not what we are striving for at Alta Bistro. We have made inquiries to your dinning experience, and we are working to resolve those issues. Although we are compared... More

For our first night in Whistler we had plenty of interesting choices for dinner, but decided on Alta Bistro primarily because it had good reviews and was walking distance from our hotel. It turned out to be a great choice. The dining room was charming, the service was engaging and attentive, and the food was creative and very tasty. Every... More

My friends were very excited to eat here. It's a cute little bistro with sophisticated food but I probably won't go there again. We dined off off the $30 Menu with 3 courses. The food was very pleasant to look at but didn't necessarily knock my socks off with flavour.

I loved everything about this place. We came here during the spring meal special and were not disappointed. Every course of my meal was perfect and a good size, and I not so incredible full I couldn't finish - just the right amount. I thought the flavours of the food were well balanced and each course had a nice fresh... More

Dined here in Aug'14. Was recommended by hotel concierge. Service was timely , efficient and provided insights to the menu and specials. Apps and mains were nicely presented , prepared perfectly and delectable. Ordered a local Okanagan vintage to accompany meal and was not disappointed. Would definitely recommend this establishment.

Local ingredients, great cooking = excellent dining experience. Simple as that really. Vegetarian option VERY tasty, and my meat-eating friends enjoyed the different options on the menu - all local which is lovely to see in this part of the world. Cocktails are pricey, but hey, we enjoyed every last drop, made by an expert, and served with style.

This to my mind is a full on restaurant serving high quality food. For my main course I had pork belly with pork tenderloin. It's not a dish for the faint hearted but it was first class. I could imagine being served that in an authentic Parisian brasserie. The ice cream dessert was also stunning and different. Service was also... More

Had quite a few people in Whistler recommend this place - and for the most part very pleased they did! The food is really good - and staff very friendly and attentive. Great cocktails too. BUT VERY simple decor - a little too simple for me - not sure streetlight being the main source of ambience is the what they... More
