We arrived late and had the signature chicken dish (oompa?) with feta and almonds, and the fish in pecans. It was okay, but not great. The decor is fabulous and the staff friendly. The homemade bread they brought was best! We were told the Sunday brunch is great, especially the hollandaise sauce.

Liked everything about our breakfast here. Fast service, frequent coffee top-up, great food. I had French Toast Erotica. Almost embarrassing to order, but if you like Nutella & bananas, you get over the name! Partner said pancakes were TOO big, if that's a problem!

Little hole in the wall between past Douglas so easy to miss. Went there on the basis of reviews here and seeing it on You Gotta Eat Here. Looks like breakfast is the highlight but we went there for dinner. Enjoyed the meatloaf, chicken and pork special. Was a little pricey but good. Highlight was desserts. Huge portions and very... Amazing pancakes. Great staff. Worth waiting for getting the plates. The location is amazing back to 60's and baseball fans.

We went here for breakfast after a recommendation from a friend. There was quite a long queue but the food was definitely worth the wait. Food came quickly once ordered and there was never an empty coffee cup thanks to the attentive waitresses. Would definitely recommend the waffles with cream cheese syrup and eggs benedict. I think they take reservations... More

This place was highly recommended by our hotel staff as a wonderful local place to eat breakfast. It was within walking distance of our hotel. The place was packed and had a waiting line... always a good sign. We were seated within five minutes. John's is a unique establishment with loads of interesting pictures on the walls. They have a... Really great atmosphere to eat in and the waitresses and waiters were really nice and the food was good for the price.

A unique and permanent fixture in Victoria for over 30 years, John's is a favorite among locals and visitors year after year, offering homemade dishes using quality ingredients. We decided to check out John's Place after reading reviews and seeing it on You Gotta Eat Here some time ago. We made a reservation for Saturday morning, assuming it would be busy. And it certainly was. Though they seem pretty efficient at moving people through. The decor is definitely funky 60's diner... autographed pictures and posters take up just... More
