Classic French Food

I started cooking in a hotel kitchen at 15 years old with French food. Always has a special place in my heart. This place does an amazing job at classic brasserie French. Steaks, mussels, frites... All great. The wine list is also extremely committed with a broad array of French and European... read more

The Brasserie is hands-down the best restaurant in Victoria and fairly priced! I'm blown away by the food every time I go! The mussels are one of my favourites, and the steaks are always cooked to perfection. If you're a burger fan, this has got to be the BEST burger I've ever had! And the fancy frites (with garlic, parsley... More

My hubby and I go here a couple times a month ... At least ! The service, food, and ambiance are wonderful. We confess to always having steak and frites, but this is what the restaurant is known for in Victoria. Even my Alberta friends love the steak. To Mark and the crew, you do an awesome job and make... We arrived at 5:05 PM to join 20 other people already in line for the 5:30 PM opening for a surprise anniversary dinner. We were greeted 5 minutes prior to opening (outside) and showed to a table for two in the back a few minutes later. Our server made excellent wine recommendations to accommodate my wife's trout and my 16... More

We had a very disappointing second visit to this restaurant. Food was mediocre and the service was very slow. Not at all like the first time we went there. It seems that both food and service have taken a dive. That's a real shame. I'm not sure I'll go back again.

Not impressive. I don't understand what the hype is about. I've had more attentive service at a busy pub. I had the steak (since the burger was sold out). This gets you a steak and a small bowl of unsalted french fries. A carrot or a green leaf of some sort would have gone a long way. Steak was tasty,... More

Been there twice, great food, service and wine, and special booze, just a very nice unpretentious place that is so different from the fatuous atmosphere of lots of Victoria restaurants.

The line-up starts to form about 5pm each night for a 5:30 opening (no reservations), and it's no wonder as the food is splendid. Best frites ever. Changing menu with emphasis on local ingredients. Excellent service.

Since we read the reviews of how people line up before the restaurant opens, we got there early, so we had no problem getting a table right away. The server was very helpful to explain about the menu. If you just look at the price, it may sounds expensive, but when you consider what they serve, we find their price... More

There is a reason for the line-ups. The food is delicious here. We were in line at 5 and just got the last four seats at the bar. It turned out to be a good place to sit and enjoy a meal, The bartender was deft, gracious and very helpful about the menu. The French 75 he mixed for me... More
