This is a regular lunch stop with my mother when we are downtown. Try the pastries--there is a considerable range, and they are all good. Everyone has their favourite. The Dutch Bakery has been going for over 50 years, and they have had the sense not to rush about trying to keep up with the times or having fancy decor,... More

We had a pleasant lunch at this old style cafe which is 3rd or 4th generation run ! Can't remember which ? The coffee was fine, the Pies were very good and the sweets were delectable. I very rarely eat dessert but joined in on this occasion as we split our 3 choices into 3rds and enjoyed after a long... More

Try the meat pies--they are delicious! Doesn't look like much inside, but the staff is friendly and helpful. Great food and pastries.

My wife and I have been enjoying the Dutch Bakery for over 50 years and have never had a problem. A unique type of coffee shop that is fast disappearing. Upgrades to the interior have been made, while still retaining the charm. This place can be very busy . On our last visit the coffee shop was extremely cold but... More

Avoid the cafe in back if you can. Service was glacial, coffee may have come out of truck out back from the original glory days or so it seemed. We had some dutch treats that were quite good and some others like the "Apple Slice" that were way to dried out and bland. Front staff was friendly and on the... More

I had not been here for many years, certainly not since they added the coffee shop (unless I just did not ever notice it). We needed to take something nice to the gathering after the funeral of my mother, decided that Dutch Bakery would most likely have enough selection to have something for everyone. The service was wonderful, they took... More

When you go in, you feel like you have stepped back in time 50 years..it looks a bit like a diner. We went in for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised. For $3.15 we had coffee and a pastry. I had a bran muffin and my husband had a cranberry custard Danish. The coffee was hot and the cup was bottomless... More

If you like an old fashioned lunch counter with hand written specials on a blackboard then this is your kind of place. We had a lunch of wraps, one veggie and one turkey, and they were very good. The best part of the meal was the strawberry shortcake. It consisted of a creamy cake with your choice of chocolate or... More

Stepping into the Dutch bakery, is simply wonderful! I have known of this place, since the 1970's and it remains very much the same. The pastries are simply delectable, and this is high praise, since I am Sous chef and have tried pastries from many restaurants, located in different places.
