Birthday cake for my dad's 80th

The chocolate sachet torte cake with chocolate mousse filling is delicious! I wanted a special, but still reasonably priced, cake for my dad's 80th birthday celebration. The cake was a hit and I was happy to share with guests that it came from Dutch Bakery (rather than a big-box warehouse or... read more

Ok, stopped in not once, but twice! The first time, my wife and I just stopped in for coffee and a snack (of the Vanilla Slice variety), but ended up chatting with a local couple that was sitting at the next table over, finding out that they've been frequenting the place for over 30 years! Call me crazy, but there's... More

Don't miss the Dutch Bakery if you're downtown Victoria! It is conveniently located on Fort St., and you'll want to go to Russell's Books next door anyway, so might as well stop here for coffee and a treat. The bakery delights are gorgeous and you can enjoy old favorites and new delights. On my most recent stop I had coffee... More

After spending a couple of days in Victoria, we were on our way to Nanaimo when we spotted this Restaurant. As it was still early in the morning we stopped in for breakfast. The food we ordered was very reasonably priced as it was good. The service was excellent. The variety of pastries that were coming out of the kitchen... More

Stopped by this restaurant for a treat our last time through and this time came by for breakfast and a treat. We were not disappointed. Lots of locals eat breakfast here, so that is a good sign. Their breakfast deal is $6.20 and comes with two eggs, two bacon, potatoes and toast and was served quite quickly by a nice... More

We love to eat breakfast at the Dutch Bakery and Coffee Shop. A quaint neighborhood place that the locals go to, for good reason. Very reasonably priced and the service and food is good, especially the pastry selections.

There are a lot of restaurants these days that are going a little overboard with their menus, pompous servers and customer expectations. You won't find that at the dutch bakery. Slide into one of the booths or sit at the bar, and experience fast, friendly services without all the frills. You can grab a pair of croquettes and toast, a... More

2 words -- Chocolate Eclair. Wow! Simply the best chocolate eclairs on planet earth! Reminiscent of the best ones from back in the day, when I was growing up in Montreal and the ones from Woodwards bakery when it was still a going concern in Edmonton. The toffee shavings on the top are what really blows your mind! Get in... More

This coffee shop began back in the 1950's with the same family and ancestors continuing to bake these delectable desserts, their famous homemade lemon pie. Their meatball soup is to die for along with the beautiful salads. This is one bakery and coffee shop that should be a must to see when you arrive in Victoria.
