We found heaven!

We were looking for a bakery for breakfast and fell upon this lovely place on Fort Street, just off Government. We were surprised to find a full restaurant in the bakery and had the most amazing breakfast. I had the 'Uitsmyter', which is an open faced dutch ham and egg sandwich. I have never had... read more

Read about Dutch Bakery before travelling from England, glad I did my homework before coming. Lovely selection of cakes and sandwiches to takeaway, and some smashing, not so easy to takeaway. Try not to miss, central location.

I remember coming here as a child when I visited my relatives, and it hasn't changed much. Stopped by for the full breakfast (reduced price before 10 am), and of course came back for a pastry snack later in the day. Best sweet treats ever, and still so inexpensive! Mocha cake the way it should be done (with white cake,... More

We found this place on our second last day in Victoria and wished we discovered it sooner. All the desert items we tried were simply perfect. A MUST if in this beautiful city.

Not everybody's cup of tea, but I love it. Simple food, with a real tradition about the place. Lovely lunch - sandwiches and ice tea....with a lovely hazelnut cake to finish off with. It's simple approach is a real favourite with the locals, and to a large extent, this is why I went back a second time....having been there two... More

We go the Dutch bakery once a week for breakfast. We have the eggs, bacon, and potatoes. We order the fruit bowl to replace the toast to make it a healthy breakfast for us. The food and service are always consistently very good. I should add that my wife is extremely fuzzy about the freshness of her eggs and how... More

I just ate one of their turkey pies. Not a pleasant taste. That turkey had lingered in the fridge for far too long. Had that stale turkey taste. I have had these before, and they were good, so I don't know if this is just one bad batch or this is a new attempt at economy. Regardless, I won't buy... More

I am very sorry to hear that you were unhappy with our Turkey Pie. We have not changed how we are making them but maybe we had a bad batch. If you would like to contact us at the bakery we would like to make it up to you. More

Walking into this cafe is like going back to 1950. The decor, counter with stools, tables and chairs really took us back. It has an extensive menu with well-prepared food and nice portions. Plating is definitely no-frills. The wait staff is friendly and remarkably efficient. We did not try dessert, but there is a very broad array, and all looked... More

The eggs were done to order, the service was quick and friendly. One feels like you're at an old friend's place, dropping by for a coffee and end up staying for breakfast. The bakery section looked like a good place to grab a snack, if only there was room after the filling breakfast.

Thinking this was a small bakery with unusual treats, we went inside and discovered its more like a restaurant than a bakery. We had coffee and desserts, but nothing was worth writing about. Maybe a better place to go for a lunch with friends? The service was very good and so was the pricing.
