Great since the re do!

We have been here now a few times since the menu and wine list have changed to French themed...The risotto is incredible as is the fish souffle done in the crab bisque...Easy to find a wine you'll like and service is very good... Have always loved the roomand sitting outside is also very enjoyable!

Interesting decor and excellent selection of wines. The menu sounded better than it really was. Selection of French inspired appetizers are great for chatting and sharing a bottle of wine for an evening. The French onion soup was a little too caramalized . The crab soufflé in seafood bisque was overly salted. The coq au vin was a generous portion... More

In retrospect, I think this is probably a place to visit for a glass of wine & a cheese tray. We went with friends for dinner & were very disappointed in our experience there. The beer & wine were good but that was pretty much it. Two of the four orders arrived barely warm (to the credit of the restaurant... More

Birthday treat from my wife's second best friend. Previously, I had visited the adjacent Penny Farthing - definitely superior "feel" about Vis a Vis. Great, copious Bibb Lettuce salad. Coq au vin main was dry unfortunately, as was my fancy burger. Creme brûlée average. Good coffee. Service with a smile. Worth another visit.

First off just want to say thank you for your review. We appreciate any and all feedback to help us create a better dining experience for our guests. We apologize for the Coq au Vin and Burger Deluxe for being dry, these dishes should never be dry, and rest assured we will be taking the proper steps in the kitchen... More

When we first visited this restaurant in the heart of Oak Bay it was offering a wide selection of sharing plates. It was enjoyable and the food was good. But as it turned out, there weren't enough paying customers to support that particular dining concept. Fast forward at least a year and we returned to find that while the homey... More

After reading the previous reviews I was tempted to cancel the reservation, but decided to give it a try. Atmosphere is very nice and there are some reasonably good choices on the menu. The server was pleasant enough but the service was so slow I couldn't believe it - it took about an hour for the first food to arrive... More

Though I had a lovely, simple dinner here three weeks ago - during which I noted, but didn't mind, the slipshod service - returning today for lunch was a wrong move. I had phoned for and confirmed our reservation, but my earliest-arriving guest was told no booking had been made; he took refuge at the pub next door. When I... More

The space is pleasant, and for those who like to eat without a lot of background noise it is certainly preferable to the Penny Farthing, to which it is attached. The food is standard pub food, however: thoroughly ordinary and inoffensive. There are better restaurants in Oak Bay.

The food was good - a British Cobb Salad and two orders of the Seared Tuna and Warm Kale Salad, along with a side of yam fries. The service left much to be desired. We waited 20 minutes for our bottle of wine to arrive, only to be told that "we can't find that bottle". We ordered another bottle from... More

The website suggests this is a wine bar and charcuterie. It's not. It's attached to the Penny Farthing pub and that's where the food comes from. Aside from the server who was a total sweetheart it was a very disappointing visit with the food struggling to be mediocre and was expensive for what it was. Could not recommend the place... More
