This bistro has a nice community vibe. There was a jazz duo playing on Monday night. They were excellent entertainment with just the right volume to enhance a romantic dinner. The dine out option was available and for $30 you will get more than enough - appetizer of crab fritters, chicken stew with dumplings (needed a bit more broth), and... More

The restaurant was walking distance from our hotel and I came here specifically for the poutine. The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, actually doesn't even look like a restaurant but it's cozy inside with live music. The place was fully packed and our option was to either wait 45 minutes or sit at the bar and we... More

I've been to Heron Rock Bistro several times for both breakfast and dinner. The food is always good and it is a great asset for James Bay. The Caesar salads are excellent, and I love the warm fresh bread they serve with meals. We recently went for Dine Around. They had advertised both $20 and $30 menus, but they only... More

Our family goes to the Heron Rock Bistro on a regular basis and the food and service are always consistently exceptional. One of the many dishes we have had are the mussels. They are served three ways. Delicious. The brunches are very creative. The other dish we love is their poutine. We have had poutine all over the city and... More

We stopped in twice on the recommendation of our b&b hosts. Service was friendly and quick. Food was good. French onion soup was great. Enjoyed the beef stroganoff. Snapper was ok but heavy on the sauce. Good appetizers. We had cheese and garlic on bread which was very good. Second time had a variation with pate. Also good. Music one... More

We were here for the Dine Around special and enjoyed our three course meals. The Carbon ara was substantial the seafood fritters delicious and dessert cheesecake was excellent.

we stopped in after the noon rush but long before dinner crowd. The restaurant was not busy so we got seated and waited on instantly. Our wait staff was quietly efficient. I ordered the noon lunch special and my wife had a large bowl of chowder. My sandwich was just the right size and very tasty. My wife's chowder was... More

The proprietress of the B&B where we were staying told us about her 'neighborhood' restaurant. This was a Monday night, and to our astonishment the place was getting quite crowded; not only for the delicious food, but the live music. On a Monday night! The entire staff was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. We started with warmed brie and roasted... More

We were warmly welcomed - nice cozy atmosphere! My husband's burger, with caramelized onions and well seasoned fries, left nothing to be desired. The Lighthouse draft was yummy. But my small steak was a mistake. First, I substituted salad for the fries, and the salad came nicely presented, but it was definitely past its best-before date - browning lettuce, one... More
