We have eaten fish and chips here before, both as takeaways and eaten in and it has been okay but not great, However we called and got a takeaway of 2 cod and chips whilst waiting for our ferry and took them straight back to eat in the car. The only good thing I can say about them was that... More

We wanted fish and chips while waiting for our appointed time to board BC Ferries and noticed that almost everyone in a window seat (we were wandering around in the rain) inside Troll's had ordered just that ... so in we went! Our orders came out piping hot and the portions were huge and tasty. Our waitress was personable and... More

I love a good American diner and this was one. And the 'more mature' waitress was the star of the show.. made my day..as did the full-on Fishermans breakfast. Just don't pull any 'vegan /gluten free' stories on her if you're just being fashionable !

Haha...the "more mature" waitress...we have a few of those..helps with the average age of staff! Yes...we have characters working here who really have seen it all so nothing really surprises us anymore. Thanks for sharing your experience...we look forward to serving you again!! Cheers, Holly More

This past weekend (Thanksgiving in Canada) we had a guest from out of town and was showing him the sights on the North Shore. Landing in Horseshoe Bay around noon on a misty over cast Sunday there was the old standby Trolls. Trolls is conveniently located across from the park and waterfront. The Ferries are closeby and there is lots... More

This a casual restaurant by the ferry terminal. The food is fresh and the menu has basic specialties like fish and chips and chowder but also non fish dishes. Fast service too.

We were on our way north from Vancouver and we pulled off the highway to have a look at Horseshoe Bay. What a beautiful, charming liitle town. Right on the water and with majestic mountains as a mesmerising backdrop for the ferries plying the HB-YVR island route. It was incredibly, incredibly pretty. Trolls is located on the main street and,... More

We have eaten here a few times and enjoyed a fish and chips meal. The battered fish is available as cod, salmon, halibut, and the night of our visit the specialty item was rock cod. We sampled the cod and halibut. Reasonable sized portions with very crispy batter. Mine was slightly overcooked halibut but was still enjoyable. Parking can be... More

Thanks for sharing your experience with us...and yes 31 sailings a day move in and out of this little terminal of ours...and each one brings a different view. With any luck you might also see our resident humpback whale, our sassy little seagull (named Fern) or our hovering little harbor seal (his name is Oreo) who follows the fish boats... More

We took the 250 bus from the Vancouver's west end and ended up at Horseshoe Bay (one of the best bus rides I've ever taken). We asked the bus driver where to eat and he pointed directly at Troll's, which is across the bay from the marina and the Ferry landing. We discovered Troll's was famous for fish & chips--... More

In your search for the fish and chips that lords above all others, look no further than Troll's Horseshoe Bay. if it weren't enough that the location is breathtaking, the food is excellent. As on our previous visits to Vancouver another highlight was the return visit to Trolls. We go to Horseshoe Bay to have a walk, to sit and watch the ferries and then to have fish & chips.
