We live in the same neighbourhood as Dona Cata and were surprised to see it closed for renovations a few weeks ago. It re-opened recently with a new name, 'La Tequilera' but still with the same owners. Four of us went for lunch this week and while the menu has changed somewhat it still features most of our old favorites... More

Several different salsas to choose from, large variety menu (highly recommend the alambres, my fav is the campirano), cheap margaritas! Awesome live music on weekends! The only negative I can say is the service is a bit slow, but it's how the Mexicans roll! Don't expect a rushed meal, take your time and enjoy!

Arrived for dinner just after a lot of other customers. Had to wait a while for service, but once ordered, a chef rushed out the food to us. As usual the chicken quesadilla was excellent. We also ordered the chiken mole which was very good as well.

If looks deceive, then Dona Cata is right up there with the best. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the food is very, very good. And unlike many other 'authentic' Mexican restaurants, you won't need to bring a fist-full of dollars to cover the bill. You'd be hard pressed not to go home stuffed and happy with... More

I frequent this restaurant about once a month. The food again was excellent. Prefer the Chicken Quesadilla which is a very generous portion and comes with a great big portion of home made guacamole. Service is efficient, friendly and casual.

Went for lunch with a friend after frequent visits to this resaurant and found that this experience was not as good as usual. The food was not altogether hot and taste not great either. It may hae been the wrong item to order. I usually take the chicken quesadilla and has always been great, served with a great big portion... More

After a bad experience at Don Gaucamoles we decided to try this place yesterday. Prices were OK, service was good but our quest for authentic good Mexican food continues. My son ordered tacos alambre(grilled meat with veggies) was a good portion with 4 tortillas but the chicken lacked flavour. Proper alambre should have marinated meat which means flavour to me.... We live on the east side and this is one of our "go to" places when we don't want to cook. The horchata is my favourite beverage. I've had many many different items from the menu and have NEVER been disappointed. There is basically no ambiance but who cares? I don't want get married here I just want to eat...and... More

Yummy food and I like how you can order as many or as few tacos as you want. My Mexican friends really like it so I figure that's a good recommendation!
