Great farm to table restaurant

Unfortunately, our group arrived late so some of our original menu choices were sold out. This was probably due to the season and with farm to table things need to be fresh. This restaurant like others in Vancouver sell platters of food called planks suitable for groups. This was our first... read more

We stopped in to escape the rain and decided to grab a drink at the bar. The bartender, Courtney, was so informative and made us a house special whiskey sour which was so good! Best either of us have ever had. He also helped us with the menu as I'm a vegetarian, they have some really nice options for both... More

Jan 1st evening, most places closed in misty, chilly Gastown. We stumbled in more from hope than expectation, what a fine find. Creative food and cocktail menus, a wonderful evening.

Great decor with a funky-historical feel. But the menu is all over the place and odd ("would you like bread with your bruschetta?" Bread is what underlies bruschetta!!), and on a couple of visits the servers have been consistently ambivalent. Feels like it's trying too hard to be different - especially with the awkward unisex toilet rooms and communal dimly... More

Good reception, good service, pretty good food and beer/wine selections, nice music and decor/atmosphere inside. Some of the food they serve, they actually grow them. Not a shabby but kind-a-classy place. We think, overall, this is a decent joint in vancouver's hip gastown district. Try it, wont regret it.

Called in here after another hot day touring Vancouver via the Trolley bus tours and on foot, liquid libation and a relaxing atmosphere was required, this establishment fitted the criteria and looks right across to Gassy Jack. Whilst here we were entranced by a young Chinese couple whom we presumed to be models stopping traffic for wedding photographs of a... More

Do you want to eat yummy food in an environment where you don't have to rush through the meal? Do you want to chat with your meal-mate? Do you like to enjoy your food? This place is for you... I loved the fact that there was no rush by ANYONE there.

Chill Winston is in a great spot in terms of its location, and the restaurant itself is a great space. It's right in the centre of Gastown, and from there you could go anywhere for drinks, dessert, or coffee. The food there is fine but nothing special. For the price, I would go elsewhere.

Staying in Gastown

Neighborhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
