I showed up at the main street location. As I didn't have a reservation,I had to wait a few minutes. Once I was seated I was told I have only one hour to order and eat. I ordered the united shooter and negi are (fried chicken gizzard with onion sauce). From the regular menu I ordered kurage (jellyfish salad with... More

My husband and I ate here on our last night in Vancouver and we were NOT disappointed! There are so many cool things to try on the menu and they are smaller portions so you can get a taste of it all. Definitely try the quail eggs and don't miss the grilled corn. Our server was lovely and we never... More

My husband and I were walking down denman looking for a place to eat. We happened to walk past this place and someone was walking out and I could smell the aroma of meat and charcoal. It smelled soo good. So we decided to try it. The place was packed so I thought this place must be good. We tried... More

I've seen the Japanese charcoal cooking on travel shows so wanted to try it. This place is set up like a Sushi restaurant but instead of sushi chefs they have charcoal chefs. The 5 piece sampler for $9.20 is a good way to start. I also ordered the scallop, sardine, etc. The skewers are very good, most do not come... More

My whole family of 4 enjoyed our visit to this Japanese restaurant to try their famous charcoal grill food located at Denman Street (near Robson). Booked at 6:30pm, we arrived early and it was already half full. I loved their grilled chicken heart, liver, gizzle, yellow tail fish, beef etc etc. After finishing each dish, just put the stick into... More

This is probably the warmest place in terms of its staff and the whole vibe it has compare to anywhere in Vancouver. Vancouverites are overly preserved and do not mingle with strangers not even with smiles or eye contacts. Here I felt completely different. The Japanese staff were so respectful, kind, and genuinely hospitable. It gave me hope that in... More

Zakkushi is my new favourite dining house in Vancouver. Loud, busy, fun and fast, this place is great. 90% of the menu is grilled over Japanese charcoal in a special brazier on sticks. From the premium offerings to the low brow, it is all delicious. Wagu beef, duck breast, tongue, heart, or ground chicken balls topped with process cheese, rice... More

We went on a Friday at 6.00 and it was packed, mostly with Japanese people. Music playing, the chefs working hard and everybody talking. Great vibe! Like others reviews mention, the portions are not big (you pay per skewer) and if you are hungry you wil have to order a lot of skewers! Overall, we were satisfied and not a... More
