Care and attention to everything

This place is a true gem. The food is outstanding with great attention to quality flavours. If you want some of the best chia ever try this place. Service was fast and courteous. Love the Kir with rosewater

Fantastic afghan / Indian food restaurant. Very interesting dishes, catering to the vegetarians and meat lovers alike. The Chai selection is great too, although service is a tad too relaxed at times...

Had a great family dinner here. The place is decorated so that you have the option to be seated middle eastern style on the floor - they successfully achieve a slightly exotic atmosphere. Food is very good overall. I had several different dishes - particularly enjoyed the eggplant and lamb dishes. The chocolate chai was different and very good. The... More

Lots of freshly made food with friendly service. The Silk Road feast gives you a lot of choices that you can mix and match.

Food here is delicious. Have been going here since they opened and it has a larger menu and much larger seating areas. Great lassies and everything I have tried here is great.

I love the food here. It is always delicious. I hate the seating however, which always makes me hesitant to go. The tables are too low and the seats too high so your legs don't fit under the table top making you awkwardly lean over the table, I leave with a sore back every time.. Some of the benches aren't... There were 3 of us this time and we all had different meals. Truly delicious food, great service and nice atmosphere. They also give you a sample of their yummy signature chai.

We visited the East is East restaurant in Kitsilano. We got the recommendation from a friend of a friend and almost didn't go, but we were so glad we did. It was the best meal of our one week trip in Canada! We ordered the Eastern Roti Rolls meal with two rolls - The Mughal and The Silk Route. It... More

I had been to the Main Street location and found service and food to be good. Tables were spaced well. Broadway was tight with small tables and limited menu. Our server was slow and not personable. Considering the unique style of food I think the server quality is most important. Not worth a return visit.

I made an online reservation for dinner for two at East is East a coupe of weeks ago. I haven't been in a few years and was looking forward to going back. Last night I arrived about 10 minutes early with my friend and there was a line up. We informed the hostess that we had a reservation and she... More

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighborhood Profile
Kitsilano
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
