Authentic Japanese food and atmosphere. We sat at the long table/bar which was a great place to see what other people were ordering. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. Food was delicious with a good selection of non-sushi items for my wife who doesn't like sushi. I had the broiled mackerel - 2 varieties and they were very good. Prices... More

None of the typical sushi that is found on almost every block in Vancouver can be found here. Instead they serve up izakaya, which is Japanese food somewhat intended to be consumed with alcohol, or at least pairs very well with alcohol. I had been to an establishment serving izakaya maybe 25 years ago. But Kingyo was different. More contemporary,... More

Loved this place!! Small with an authentic feel. The tapas gave us the ability to try several dishes. Nothing disappointed. Great choice.

Their lunch bento might be the best sampling of izakaya food EVER! Best value and flavor! Otherwise their dinner options are stellar too! Their daily/weekly specials with the ebi mayo, beef tongue, stone bowls, everything! Fun atmosphere and good food!

You know how sometimes you go to an eatery, have a meal, depart, then spend the next few hours feeling great about the whole thing? That's Kingyo. What more can I say?

We are regulars here and are never disappointed and constantly surprised with new innovative dishes ... They are even able to accommodate celiac which can be difficult with Asian foods... A must if you visit Vancouver

The food and the ambiance was perfect! Though it's a bit pricy, the quality of the food compensate for everything else! I wish I could go back to Vancouver just to eat at Kingyo again.... reservation required since it is pretty popular!

My friends and I popped in after work on the spur of the moment and found dinner to be prompt, courteous and especially delicious! We shared a number of plates, including 2 salads, the tan-tan noodles, sushi and tempura. Everything we ordered was excellent. In addition, I loved the wood carving decor. Will be back!

Most unique sushi experience ever. Everything was Excellent and full of flavor. Special guidance not to add soy sauce by the server to a dish was appreciated. The delicate flavor would have been lost. Next time I'm in Vancouver will visit again for sure.

Very tasty interesting food with great service and atmosphere. We already decided to eat there and we're looking in the window when a local resident, we believe, said 'great restaurant' as she walked by. Her tone of voice sounded like she wished she would be there that night. We shared four dishes, of which, the sea urchin and duck in... More
