My boyfriend and I went last weekend and we absolutely loved it. We ordered a variety of items and each dish was delicious. The flavours all compliment each other really well. While the place isn't cheap I think it is a fair price for the quality of the ingredients. We had five dishes (including the kobe beef..my favourite!) and four... More

I love this place. It's like eating in Japan. Be sure to make reservations or prepare yourself for a wait, especially during high season. The tuna seared in a tonkatsu-like method was delicious, as was the black cod in lemon miso. The tossed green salad was refreshing and yummy. The high points of the evening for us, though, were the... More

Great, unique Japanese tapas experience here with helpful wait staff and delicious menu choices. Popular, trendy & noisy, but fun!

This a real special place. Very interesting Asian food in small plates. Unique and delicious. Great service too. Worth the trip!

The food at Kingyo was very fine, mostly small scale Japanese dishes designed to be consumed with drinks. Of special note were the delicious deep fried corn, and the tempura cauliflower. Their special tan tan noodles were just ok, but the tuna toro sushi was fabulous. Don't go for an early dinner though. The place was pretty empty at 6... More

The title is the punchline from an existentialist joke. Kingyo is not japanese, is not really an izakaya, and is not very good. This is a 27 on Zagat like Sartre was a Marx Brother. Service was charming, though

This restaurant has a great menu and is not what you usually find in a Japanese Restaurant (just sushi, nigiris and sashimi). The food in here is totally different and feel that I have to go several times to have a better overview of the menu. I had a ramen noodles with pork cheek and some tiger shrimps in a... More

We were visiting Vancouver and love Japanese food, but were thinking sushi. We looked at TA for some advice, and saw this restaurant. It was pretty near to our hotel, so after biking at Stanley Park, we were starving and ready for some good food. We almost went to another place, based on it's long line, but it was a... More

An interesting selection of Japanese food with a vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff. Service was very quick and heavily patronised.

Very good sushi, great service The place is very little and you often have to share the table with other people: it's ok if you are only two of you but in four you would like to have your own table
