Celebrated our birthdays here and it was one memorable experience! We made a reservation on a busy Saturday dinner and at first it was a bit frustrating because there was a small miscommunication due to the reservation. However, they were more than accommodating with our big party! I was very impressed with the resolution! I really like how welcoming all... More

Very good-quality fresh sushi but i personally feel that they put too much sauce on top of the sushi and the sauce kind of empower the taste of the sushi. I didnt have much clue when i went there for dinner, the waitresses were really helpful with the sushi selections and they seemed to know a lot. They gave us... More

I don't know why I've never bothered going to the one in Toronto, despite hearing such good reviews from the boyfriend. I love the food scene in Vancouver, so knowing that I had a 12 hour layover coming up, I searched online for places to eat and stumbled upon Kingyo. It was well worth the hour+ journey from the airport... More

Very attentive service at this place. The food was varied with options: sushi, sashimi, hot pots, noodles, meat. The Kim chi hot pot special was very fun to cook on your table top. The snow crab sushi was high quality and incentive. The tan tan noodles were mild after the Kim chi. A number of drinks were very good off... More

One of my favorite Asian meals ever, ever! The fellow who greeted us (manager)? Was so incredibly helpful and genuine. Perhaps he was an owner I just could not believe how great he was at recommending dishes with absolute honesty. The food we ate was over the top good. The clams and udon noodles, seared tuna, tuna with avocado. Fresh,... More

We had a fair dining experience at nobu las vegas this week. Back home in Vancouver and kingyo made up for our over priced good at best meal there. Kobe beef on a hot rock, rice in a stone bowl and a few other delicious sushi dishes left us very satisfied and glad to be home. Asian cuisine in Vancouver... More

The experience started the moment we walked in. We had a reservation and the smiling, bubbly hostess took us right to our table. This is not a big place and has a very cosy feel with a distressed wood theme. It can be loud but we were seated fifteen feet from the kitchen. Our server struggled with her English but... More

Excellent Japanese food. Being in Vancouver I had been told that we had to have Sashimi as this city was known for its quality so Japanese was a no-brainer. Kingyo ticked all the boxes. Funky, intimate restaurant, good value for food and drinks and very attentive wait staff. Had the edamame, deep fried corn, kobe beef (on hot rock), sashimi... More

I have eaten three lunches and one dinner at Kingyo, and enjoy it more and more. The lunch special bento-preorder as the number are limited to 10 a day-is remarkable for fresh yummy treats of sushi and sashimi, with soup and bits of salad (seaweed based or special gomae the 2 I have had), fruit, and bits of delicious fish... The food and service and decor here are great, as other reviewers have noted. But is is so noisy in the evenings that conversation is difficult. It is quieter at lunchtime.
