this place has been around for as long as I can remember. very nondescript entrance and I've often driven past it thinking it was further down the street. easy enough to get seating on a weekend if you get their as they open at 8 but it quickly fills up by 9. big menu! but I usually stick to... read more

love this strange place. Reminds me of my basement in the early 1980s; faux wood panelling. The food is good and filling. Great brunch place and open early on weekdays too! Too many choices in my opinion. I always get the hash.

The menu is one of the largest I have ever seen. Ordered a pannekoek and eggs hollandaise scramble that comes with raisin toast and an authentic apple sauce. Both were incredible! Service was average, decor is older but gives the restaurant charm. Definitely will be returning.

If I ever wake up wishing that I am in Amsterdam, I make my way to this fun little joint and enjoy a pannekoek. This place is so much better than De Dutch, it's got a really homey feel and the service is excellent. Whether you want something sweet or savoury this makes my top 5 breakfasts in Vancouver. If... Love the pancakes and all the great food here. The service can feel a bit slow at times because this place is so popular, but I still give it 5 out of 5 because the overall atmosphere and the food is just sooo good. Enjoy!!

I visited for a business breakfast and was very pleased with the experience. The decor is flat out Dutch paraphernalia from wall-to-wall. The service was near perfect. The coffee bottomless, and the food was very good. This isn't the Ritz, but the result is great.

Friendly staff, novel and interesting cuisine, and huge plates of food make for excellent value. Definitely try one of the Dutch Indonesian dishes for a taste of something different.

I really like how this restaurant makes their Apple Sugar Cinnamon and Whipped Cream pannekoeken. They dice the apples then cook them in the batter. I had this same dish at a few places in Amsterdam and its not quite the same. Often the apples are just a few slices and they are placed on top. This has been a... More

Every time I visit Vancouver I have to go to the Wooden Shoe (There is a photo of my husband and I on the wall as we used to be regulars when we lived in Vancouver)! The number 20 is my favorite and it's always better when John (the owner) is in the kitchen. I love this place!

The Dutch Wooden Shoe Cafe is accurately described as a grungy hole-in-the-wall... maybe a little more grungy than I'd prefer my food to be served from. I'm told people rave about the pannekoek served there (not a fan of pancakes myself), but without question I'll believe the urban legend as the pannekoek listing can't be described as anything less than...
