Great Food & Atmosphere

~ We went for a family function and the food & service were great. The interior decor and atmosphere were very good as well. The only thing I didn't like was the uncomfortable hard wood chairs. Besides that the place was busy and lined up when we left. I would make a reservation.

Although this humble exterior doesn't scream modern it caught me by surprise when I walked in. From the wood ovenot where pizzas are to die for or the fact that although a fairly large place I was able to carry a full meeting while enjoying a great meal!

I visited the restaurant for the first time just before 5pm on a Saturday and had no problem getting a seat for myself. By the time I left there was a line up to enter, but the wait didn't appear to be more than 10 minutes. I ordered the Quattro Stagio pizza. It was a generous size for one person,... More

We visited Marchello's in September while on Vacation from Ontario visiting family in BC. Our BC family had good meals there in the past. Some of you meals were good this time but the family that had bad meals were really bad. The Chicken Dinner was cold and very dry. We mentioned this to our waitress who went to the... More

If you want good Italian, you have to give Marcello's a try!!! They have this giant Tiki pizza oven which my daughter loves to see. Their fresh pizza's are awesome and the lasagna is the best i've ever had. The portion on the lasagna is small for an entree, but super tasty!!! The service is good, done by a bunch... More

Oh my...the curry prawn appetizer dish was so freaking good that we ordered another one! The spaghetti carbonara was excellent, the wine, the coffee AND the dessert! So delicious. I will definitely be going back! Great service - attentive but not over bearing. Kudos to all the people working there who serve great food and provide a wonderful experience!

Their pizzas are really the best in town. The barman is great. (Damon) Only one thing I wish they will add to their menu:: Why not having some Italian pastries, ex. from Fratelli....down the street.

Marcello Pizzeria stands at the corner of Commercial Drive and Kitchener St. Easiest way to get here from downtown is to take NB bus 20. Well worth the 15 minute bus ride. A standard menu with the stand out feature being the quality of ingredients. Staff are attentive but not overly so. Busy yet not crowded place for a leisurely... More

Staying in Commercial Drive

Neighborhood Profile
Commercial Drive
Commercial Drive, also called "The Drive," comprises of twelve sauntering blocks of modest and unfussy counter-culture. Straddling the line between sophisticated and unadorned, it is favoured by students, artists, writers, designers, and start-ups, and suffused throughout with a healthy off-beat counter-culture. The kind of neighbourhood which well-springs thought-revolutions and has the odd bit of self-aware graffiti, Commercial Drive has resisted gentrification in favor of continuing to build a thriving den of affordable multiculturalism. Once known as Vancouver's "Little Italy," it has also been the immigration point for Guatemalans, Hondurans, and Portuguese to the city. The resulting hodgepodge makes for poetry readings in espresso cafes, social debates in early-open bakeries, and eco-activism posters pinned up in the many multi-ethnic markets in the area. Commercial Drive is where you go to feel like a local, and if you have them, bring the kids – The Drive has a number of bookshops, toy stores, and attractions to get them involved too.
