We came in with no expectation having been looking for a trattoria that looked ok. The downstairs of the restaurant was reserved for a party and when we went in the entrance off the main street it looked busy. The staff were very friendly though and greeted us in very welcoming way, got us a table by the window and... More

We reserved a table - thankfully as the place was really buzzing. Service was efficient, and the king crab was delicious. Good wine selection and not overpriced for the quality. Recommended.

In spite of a good location, a nice room with pleasant daylight at lunch time and competent service, this restaurant was a disappointment. The daily special first course, a mushroom soup was OK. However the main course was really bad. Bad pasta, On the menu, it looked quite interesting. Under the"fresh pasta" category: squid ink linguine with seafood and saffron... More

We staggered in after a day on Grouse Mountain, bit tired, unkempt and still wit a daypack aboard. These guys treated us like royalty, we had beer on the table in under a minute and had very nice food, quickly, reasonably cheaply and the waiters were genuinely friendly and efficient. Perfect place to end our day.

We walked in with no reservation and no expectations. We had good, friendly and professional service and I loved the wood oven pizzas. Pasta was good too. It was reasonable priced and it was a cozy and busy restaurant under ground. I would definitely go back! This was real Italian food.

We basically stumbled onto Al Porto while wandering around the Gastown area. The sign outside promoted the restaurant as an authentic Italian Tratoria. Just what my family of 6 was looking for. It turned out to be a perfect choice on multiple levels. First, the food overall was very tasty, and everyone liked their choices very much. Big kudos especially... More

Came back from a cruise and we decided we needed a really good place to eat after eating boat food for a week. We decided on Al Porto - and we were all glad we did. I started with the Calamari which was perfectly done, and not over-cooked as most restaurants do. The combination of the red onion brushetta and... More

The concierge in our hotel recommended Al Porto for an early evening family dinner and we enjoyed it. Nice location in the Gastown area, so a pleasant walk from the hotel. The restaurant has an underground / cellar feel to it. Efficient service, which we expected as the restaurant was not full. Good food / drink - the seafood risotto... More

We were back in Vancouver for a short trip and decided to revisit Al Porto. Having been there several years ago, we had great memories and we were not disappointed this time either. A fixture in Gas Town, Al Porto is a large comfortable restaurant. My husband and I both had Caesar salads to start and pasta. His with chicken... More
