Pleasant surprise

We were wandering down West Cordova looking for a place to eat and decided we wanted Italian. We had a bit of a challenge finding our way in from the street but it was worth the effort. My wife and I visited Al Porto on 28.4.14 and had an excellent meal. We sat at a table for two by the window in the large restaurant downstairs and found the room light with the tables well spaced. Nice linen and glasses. We each ordered the halibut with polenta and spaghetti squash which was nicely cooked and well presented.... More

Had a groupon otherwise would have never gone in because it was pretty pricey. Worth the visit though. For a fancier restaurant I expected the portions to be small but I brought home leftovers. The service was excellent and accommodating. I don't like seafood but decided to try the cannelloni with crab and it was excellent.

Food was very good. Enjoyed a beef tenderloin. Service was exceptional, informative and friendly. Would visit this restaurant again having been there several times without disappointment.

Starting with the young woman taking our reservation over the phone to the waiter serving us we felt very welcome and well cared for. The menu is extensive and very affordable for Vancouver. The quality of the food, taste and presentation excellent. The wine list is excellent and the choice of wines in all price ranges is great. Professional service... More

I am reviewing Al Porto again because i was here over two years ago and i want potential patrons to know it is still a great place to eat! The server was attentive and knowledgeable and the food was lovely! My husband loved his seafood chowder which came as a special with a main course (Thurs 4:30 - 6:30 special)... More

just enjoyed a wonderful meal at Al Porto in Gastown. The service and the food was exceptional and the happy hour drinks reminded us of many happy days spent at outdoor cafes in Italy sipping spritzers! The inside of the restaurant is spacious with tables nicely spaced apart for conversation and privacy. We hope that we will once again return... More

We ate here on a Saturday night in March as part of a group of 8 friends. The food was excellent, the wine list extensive and our server, John, was very good. We all enjoyed our meals. We usually stay at the Pan Pacific and liked that it is a short walk from the hotel.

On a Friday night, I dined at Al Porto with out of town friends who love Italian wine and food. They were returning to Al Porto partly because of its long Italian wine list that represents many regions in Italy. Three of us had lightly fried calamari followed by a truly delicious "cioppino"--a fish stew from Tuscany. It was very... More

We visited the bustling Italian restaurant to use a Goupon. We were so impressed that a return visit is in the future. The staff are attentive, the food was amazing and the ambiance had a Italian feel that was warming.
