A Class Act

West is a very nice restaurant with good food and fine service. It offers quality food instead of quantity. The interesting, pleasant decor (lots of fanciful glass) and elite clientele create a comfortable setting. The drinks are tasty. Still, I feel it is over-priced.

We enjoyed this restaurant after a couple years away from it. The inspired Pacific Northwest/Continental cuisine was fresh and inviting. The $38 3 Course menu is good value for money and the fish and meats were presented in an appetizing manner. Staff continue to be professional and friendly. You can't go wrong if you happen to be in the neighbourhood... More

We spend our week going to different restaurants in search of the elements and signature food of Vancouver, especially looking for Pacific Northwest seafood. West Restaurant offered what we were looking for. We took the 3 course dinner; starters were great with a myriad of different tastes, although the tuna with whipped cream was a bit heavy on the French... More

We went to West before going to see Les Miserables at The Stanley. They have a Pre-theater 3-course menu that was excellent tasting and good value. The service was attentive and helpful. We would definitely return. One of our best meals in Vancouver in the last year!

Very different cooking to last visit when David Hawksworth was chef. I loved the design of the space back then and not much had changed this visit so I was predisposed to enjoying myself. The food generally lacked the precision of the former chef but perhaps that's not a fair comparison. This iteration is much more Asian in influence. My... More

Drinks were absolutely spectacular, but expensive. I felt that the 5 oz. steak at $39 was a little pricey with vegetables that were only so-so (if you are a big meat eater, this steak would only be a taster for you). One of the guests at our table ordered sablefish that was tasteless and overly salty. The other two guests... More

Waiter was satisfactory but not accomodating especially with our two kids. Her manager was the opposite; and was able to get the kids the dishes we first asked for and which the waiter declined to get. She did get us some great British Columbia wine and dessert. But the 4 oz $40 dollar Halibut and the pork is not worth... More

The restaurant looks great. Loved the details. Great location. Nice wine list. The carrot ginger soup was fantastic. Everything was beautifully presented. The strawberry jam shortcake dessert was fantastic. The main course of halibut was bland and super expensive. The main course of Arctic char and Couscous was cooked perfectly but absolutely tasteless and not worth eating. The main courses... More

Food, service, presentation and decor was great for me as solo senior but not the best place for a quiet romantic dinner for two!

We had a very good time last weekend. Ordered the dry aged steak and the prime cut that they had on offer. Added a bottle of wine. The steaks were outstanding, some of the best we've had.
