many Years ago, Tojo was my introductions to Sushi, since then i had Sushi all around the world but Tojo is still by far the best food and staff that makes you feel like you are part of the Family. if you are lucky, Tojo will prepare a special creation for you. love to go back again soon.

After enjoying many of Vancouver's authentic sushi restaurants, I decided now is the time to compare them to Tojo's. As it already competes very well with any city in the world, I really didn't think that Vancouver sushi could get any better. But it does. After a warm greeting at the door and a smile and bow across the sushi... More

I love Tojo's and make a point of going there every time I'm in the area. It's Iconic for a reason. The food is fantastic, the service superb and the atmosphere is electric. Do yourself a favour and don't order off of the menu. Ask for the omakase option and leave yourself in their hands. You won't regret it.

Sit at the counter to get the full experience. Tojo himself will prepare the best sushi and hot dishes imagineable. Articstic barely describes the presentation; Tojo is a master and rightly deserves to be in the book, "1001 places to visit before you die". Not knowing for sure when I might go, I make a point of going often to... More

There was a time when Tojo worked for someone at a small sushi bar on broadway in the early 80's. We would wait to occupy a seat at his work station and he would chose your meal. When he opened his restaurant on the same street around the time I was getting married it was his place we chose for... More

Four of us enjoyed the Omakase 5 course dinner as selected by the chef with minor input from ourselves re allergies and preferences. The portions were small but the flavours were generally excellent. The waitress did not engage with us and we had some language problems that wee not well resolved. The presentation and seasoning of all the dishes was... More

Bottom line is that this restaurant is completely overpriced. the food is pretty good and the presentation is nice but for the price, no. I can not justify paying 26 dollars for a sushi roll, especially one as mediocre as the ones you get here. Yes, Tojo is the acclaimed inventor of the California roll (1 minute of online research... Had reservations at 6 p.m. on a Thursday evening. Ordered the Omakase (tasting menu) of “Six Courses and Up” for $120 per person. It turned out to be 7 courses this time. We had ordered the same item last year which had 8 courses. Each course was very tasty and the service was prompt and very friendly. There were tables,... More

sad to see that the once top ranked Tojo has now hit bottom. Today ranked number 129 overall and number 18 of Japanese restaurants it is just trading on past reputation these days. Dinner with extended family: unimpressive, lazy staff, slow service very average food. The high prices do remain. One point that sums up the current situation is the... More

I love Japanese food. Not only "sushi", but the real Japanese food, the kind of food people in Japan eat every day. I've also been to many Japanese restaurants/places in Vancouver, and I know what is the meaning of the 'average' in Vancouver and in Lower Mainland. If you are able to put aside all of the 'great reviews' of... More
