Brunch was great

Jerk tofu with veg sausage scramble was terrific. My son had the huevos rancheros and says it was great. The benny his girlfriend had she loved. The stove heat was welcome too! -4C yesterday morning! It ain't exotic but it is a solid choice in our neighbourhood.

Dropped in here last night for their ginger beer shandy and an appetizer. Keshia is amazing as I was cold upon entering and she made sure we were seared by the fireplace and then went and turned the heat up. The food here is a bit spicy and you feel like you are in the Carribean. Love the Reef. Good... More

I called to make an order for take out, and my husband picked it up. I was really craving Jamaican food, but it was just "so-so". Nothing special about it. Chicken looked scary. The only good thing about it all was the exceptional service I received over the phone. The young lady was very polite.

This is one of our favourite restaurants on the Main strip. The rotis are fantastic. The jerked tofu is great. Brunches are really really good! The homemade ginger beer is pretty awesome.

The Reef was a great find for me and my family. We were traveling with our young daughter and found ourselves tired and hungry when we happened upon this welcoming-looking restaurant, which seemed a little more laid-back and "family-friendly" than other restos in this area of Main. I cannot speak to the "authenticity" of the cuisine; all I can tell... More

Casual dining with patio access. Young friendly servers with good product knowledge. I followed my server's recommendation and had the plantain chips as a starter, Dominica beef as a main and fried banana to finish. All were spicy and delicious. My daughter had jerked poutine, an island twist on a Canadian classic. There is no parking lot and this part... More

The first time I visited the Reef I was a bit put off by the signage and menus - I thought it looked a bit naff and wouldn't be good food. I was very wrong. It's excellent authentic Jamaican food (as far as I know, having never been to Jamaica). I love the jerk pork, and the house-made hot sauce... More

Rum cocktails were amazing. The food was very special and authentic. We had the nicest server ever. The music (live DJ) could be more quiet , we could hardly hear each other

We loved the plantain fries and the chicken quesadillas. Our son brought us to this homey restaurant during our visit to Vancouver. We were not disappointed.

Staying in South Main

Neighborhood Profile
South Main
South Main, or SoMa, is a neighbourhood in upswing. Inhabited by young humanitarian professionals in converted lofts and studio apartments, what was once an industrial centre is now a wellspring of vintage and eco fashion shops, contemporary sawdust-floor galleries, craft beer joints, and basement acting studios. All set to an Art Deco background with a strong blue collar sensibility underpinning each new pop-up and foodie trend, SoMa is on the rise.
