Have been here a couple times for breakfast and our group of 4 has never had a bad meal. We also enjoy the "friendly" banter with the owner. The language can be a little colorful but consider it part of the breakfast and a show atmosphere!

Patrick the owner does swear a lot. If you don't want your children to hear bad language don't go. However he is part of the charm of the elbow room and it wouldn't be the same without him. We went twice - first time it was quiet and the food was amazing. Second time very busy and food not so... More

The food is very good, service is quick and the food is hot; expect a wait but it is well worth it. There is charater to the place so expect a bit of verbal abuse, so embrace it and have some fun. The rules are on the menu but there are also on their web page; you might want to... More

This place is great. Great breakfast and great service with a side of callous honesty! Don't go here if you don't appreciate honesty and a little backhanded sarcasm. I do and I would go over and over again. A very different but very awesome restaurant experience

While Patrick's sense of humor, and offensive behavior got me here for the first time three years ago, it was his cafe's good breakfasts that got me to come back. Hearty omelets, affordable plates, and the usual ambience that diners have come to expect here, will get me back here very trip I make to Van.

The sign on the window says "Best Breakfast in Vancouver". While I'm not sure it is "Best", it was pretty damn god. The pancakes were the size of hubcaps and very good. I enjoyed the bacon and cheese Omlette which hind sight told me was very shareable. The server was quite talkative and shared many thoughts regarding American tourists visiting... More

The food is good. The owner behaves like a king. We were waiting to be seated for 5 minutes. First thing we heard was "today we sit on this side". No good morning, nothing. Thanks god we made no mistakes while ordering our food... Then, a staff came late and he asked him in front of all the customers for... More

Woke up extremely early on our first morning in Vancouver and had no idea where to go for breakfast. A quick internet search kept suggesting the Elbow Room so decided to give it ago since it was really close to our hotel. Loved it!! The owner, Patrick, was waiting tables and his acerbic wit kept us entertained. Place was busy... More

We rented an apartment in Yaletown for one week. The owners recommended this place as good for breakfast. We gave it a try and thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. In fact, we went back the next morning. I've never seen pancakes as large as the ones served here. While the food is good and the portions are huge, the owner of... More

This is a historic restaurant that established itself several decades back. It's small and very intimate with its setting. let me say this, I knew going in that this was a local dive that according to my BFF served a mean breakfast. However, we both gagged slightly when we began to notice that some of the cutlery was dirty. There... More
