Great view but the rest sub par

We walked past this restaurant and saw that there are plenty of empty tables on their patio. Since it was a very sunny afternoon and the location of the boathouse is really great, we decided to give it a try. This restaurant has a bar style dining downstairs and restaurant upstairs (although I think the menu is the same). We were upstairs and had a fantastic view over the bay with the sun setting. The food was mostly seafood and the chowder and calamari I had were great. Service was good and overall a lovely dinner.

Attended 8 April 2015 at 4pm for dinner and as near English Bay and sunny in Vancouver decided to go to this restaurant. We noticed a nice long sun deck half covered by glass and a nice view of the ocean and beach. We were ushered by a beautiful long black hair Japanese front counter lady. Nice smile, pleasant conversation... More

We sat down at this place for a late lunch. With a perfect overview over the bay and boardwalk you will enjoy this place. They were serving happy hour at the moment we came down. The were serving all kind of appetizers for half the price. We ordered several of including a dessert. The food was good and all served... More

Great views and location but the food is subpar (feels like eating at a Friday's or similar type of chain restaurant)... Kitchen needs a lot of work

We went to the Boathouse that is located on Kits Beach. The food was alright - nothing to jump up and down about, but the setting is lovely. We sat near the window that provided a beautiful view of the beach and water. Location can't be beat. If you don't mind mediocre food, but love a beautiful location, this is... More

We went for lunch during the week. We were seated right away and had a great view. There was only one waitress, so service was a bit slow. My fiancé had the salmon and enjoyed it. I had the grilled chicken sandwich which was good but nothing special. Would go again.

This Vancouver stalwart remains a fixture at English Bay for a reason. Beautiful view, comfortable atmosphere, good service, and a menu focused on very good seafood. The halibut and chips are the best in the city. 'nough said. *note: very limited selections for vegetarians.
